Help needed with Eurovox max 2008

hi all,

first post so be gentle!

i have a eurovox max which was fine and just needed the codes updated. However for the last week it just says 'please wait code being updated' but it doesnt update and the 30th April codes aren't working.

Will i need to plug it into the PC and put other software (is it called firmware?) on it? Never did anything like it before but have hacked a few phones via usb etc so think i am capable of it.

I have bought a serial null cable and waiting on my usb to serial lead to arrive.

Just thought i would ask if anyone has any other suggestions as to why its not working with the codes.

Just to add, i have looked through previous post but not found anything which i think answers my question.

I searched on here for info about clones and its deffo not a clone (dont know if that makes a difference)

do you know what software is on the box at the moment?

There is a step by step guide linked in my sig that shows you what you need to do to upgrade the software.

just another quick question about clones.

i read that if it has max v under the clock/dislay it is real, however mines has digital terrestial receiver but when i counted the slots thing it was 8 and i have the green things when i look inside (sorry for the lack of technical terms).

Thanks i have looked at that post but im just waiting on the usb to serial lead arriving before i get started. Just want to make sure 100% the box is not cloned. Bought it on E**y and was listed as 100% genuine with 12 month warrenty and has a seal/sticker on the back.

right there hasnt been many people to appear to have cloned 08 boxes and there is a box out called eurovox tx its a terrestial receiver ill try find out more about the terretial sign for ya but have a look at this link of panasonic another user who got a weird box it might be of help http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/659486

 

and to find out what software is on go into menu and go to config then system info it should say what s/w ver you have with a date beside it

 

right mate had a quick look there for ya and terrestial receivers work of dishes not cable so maybe you would want to send it back and get max v 2008 for cable

it has been working fine though but just says 'please wait code updating now'. If it was ment for use with a dish would not have worked at all? I have had it since christmas so he wouldnt swap it now.

Am i best getting a new box? what are the differences?

did you always have to put new codes in or did it update and come back on by itself ?

 

bit of both, sometimes i had to put the codes in, few times i put it on sky sports and it updated itself.

does that have any difference?

well then go into menu and go to config and post what it says it just sounds a bit weird it should always update withe the right firmware

right then that sounds ok to me but you need to put new firmware on it that firmware is old you will need a null modem cable db9f to db9f and if you dont have a serial port on your computer or laptop you will need a usb to rs232 adaptor ..... you can download the new firmware here http://www.mediafire.com/?xynenwxvyjy but for now the codes should work what provider are you using ?

 

ive got the serial null modem cable, arrived today, just waiting on the usb one arriving, thanks for the link aswell.

Im on telepest, i read a post somewhere saying to try 07 at the start instead of 79 but that didnt make any difference.

i did accidentally delete both the telepest code things but i pressed the default button and it brought them back.

00=40-7B-EC-04-C4-95-56-68
01=79-B5-C4-FC-03-4A-4B-6C right they are the right keys they are working so if you already done a key default just press menu press the yellow button in the top 4 spaces enter your provider id (not sure what it is for telepest im sure you know your self or if you go into the menu 19681968 and check the provider id ) and then under that there is two lines empty in the top line type the 00 code in but dont type the 00 and then underneath on the bottom line type the 01 code in again dont type the 01 in and then press ok to save and that should be it ...... im guessing telepest provider id is 5a01 but not 100 percent try that and see does it work for ya

how much of a nugget do i feel!!!

went and rechecked the codes again (have tried entering the same codes 5-6 times). I think im needing my eyes tested, i went right upto the screen to double check and i had a 6 instead of an 8 (got the box plugged into wee tele upstairs, smaller screen).

dont be stupid its all part of the learning process i was the same at the start so i know how stressful it is and how easy it sounds to me now but a while ago even the simplest thing was like rocket science glad you have it working now .... the only thing i still find strange is that your box hasn`t got max v below the digital never heard of that before but what it says in system info sounds ok so you should be fine happy days

 

sure if you go up to the thread starview codes 2 you will see how many people say the codes dont work but they are always out by one digit just look at the last post by circos same thing so dont feel stupid always double check the codes are correct

 

mishy just redaing back over your posts are you sure your box is not a eurovox max 2007(red box ) under the digital on them it says digital satellite receiver the rf in tuner does go back 8 slots but the front of the box is siver not black and the rest of the box is a grey/black colour if it is e red box forget about the link i gave you thats for the black 2008 boxes download the red software 21/04/08 heres a link http://www.freewebs.com/cableassist/eurovoxproducts.htm this is for the red box just double check or post back to this thread
