I am using Nero 8.1.10b and a trial of AnyDVD 6.1.9.3 running under Vista Ultimate on a Shuttle SG33G5M. I am facing problems with Nero Recode. The scenario is like this: 1. I can play DVDs with both PowerDVD 7.3 and Nero Showtime 2. I start Nero Recode. It has problems reading the VOB files on the DVD (pause for quite a long time), and cannot play/preview the movie (or individual VOB) files. Then it says it cannot read the VOB files. 3. If I close Nero Recode, neither Showtime nor PowerDVD can read the DVD. I have to eject and re-insert the DVD, then both Showtime and PowerDVD can read it just fine. What is the problem with recode? Could the problem be compatibility with the latest Recode and AnyDVD? Thanks for any assistance.
I did a similar test on an xp pro (sp2) system. With the same Nero and AnyDVD versions, no problem. As soon as I click the ImportDVD button, the window comes up in a snap and it proceeds to read the files in the DVD with no problem. With my Vista ultimate system, aftger clicking the ImportDVD button, the brose for folder window takes a LONG time to come up and even when it does, when I drill doen the folder with the VOB files, it can't read them. Strange. Does anyone running Vista (32bit) have this problem with the latest Nero Recode and AnyDVD? Thanks.
I read in ths thread (http://club.cdfreaks.com/f85/failed-read-file-vts_01_0-vob-207622/) that some folks also have similar error of Failed to read from the file VTS_01_0.VOB when in Nero Recode. I also use a LiteOn DVD+_RW drive. Is this a Nero or AnyDVD problem? Now I am puzzled..... :-(
Just received a message from someone relating to this problem. He pointed me to the link: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?p=34688 which indicates it could be a problem with AnyDVD and the LiteOn firmware (I wonder why it does not affect Showtime and PowerDVD, but just recode). According to this link, a procedure that may work is: 1. activate AnyDvd 2. then open recode, 3. insert movie, 4. let anydvd do it's thing, 5. then in recode,..import movie, 6. if you get an error couldn't read the vob1 file, leave recode runing,.. manually open and close the burner, anydvd will do what it does again, in recode import movie again and this time it should work. I will try this out when I get home tonight.....
Confirmed that problem was caused by conflict between the AnyDVD and Liton DVD+-RW drive. I swapped out the LiteON for a Pioneer DVD+-RW and the problem never happened again
