HELP PLEASE HARD DRIVE?

    I just bought a new hard drive seagate 250 gig ATA(desktop). I don't know how to install xp os on it. I have an xp cd but cannot boot from cd. And when i try to slave it bios setup recognizes it as a slave but when pc has booted there is no icon for it under my computer. Can some body please help me out????? Why is this happening?

    its not working because its brand new and not configured for windows.
    ok go to the control panel then go to Administrative Tools then go to computer mangement then under the storage tab there should be disk mangement and ur new hard drive is waiting to be setup there :)

    You can also go to Seagate site, and download DiscWizard. Install it, and it will automatically install your HDD for you.

    kapre19, do you have windows on the computer already or is this a fresh install?

    it is a fresh install..don't know the proper procedure because xp cd will not boot up from d drive!!!!
