I cannot make by DVD Drive recognize DVD RW disks for anything. I am creating the disks using a standalone DVD recorder but they will not play on my PC DVD player. I have XP with the SP2 update which I thought was supposed to take care of the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What model of DVD Recorder you have ?
What are you using to play it on your PC ?

I take when you say dvd-rw (ram) which may be not fully comapatible with older dvd writers. Most newer dvd writers support dvd ram but some older writers find the dvd ram format difficult to reconize.I would check out your writer on the makers web site to make sure if it fully supports this format and for any known problem with certain media in this format.Even if you have a pretty new drive just check any way for these sort of problems with certain media.
