    Hi icon818

    Recorder: <HP DVD Writer 200j> Version: 1.36
Your burner can use a firmware update. The latest is 1.72. Here's a link.

It's a pretty old burner and this last firmware update is from 3/04 to give more support to 8x media.

So if the firmware update doesn't do the trick your best bet may just be to get a new burner. They are much cheaper now and less worries about finding media that will burn. Plus they burn faster than 2.4x :)

I don’t know nothing about DvD burners. So can you recommend which DVD burner I should buy?
Do all DvD burners work in any pc?

    of topic questions

    Here’s what I’ve been doing

I want to burn my anime onto a dvd disc, Most of my anime are .Avi(Xvid) format
So, I use TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress to converted my Avi(Xvid) to a Dixv format and get rid of overscan. Then I use Nero vision 4 to Try to burn them(as you know already I cant even burn)
but Nero vision 4 has a build in encoder/converted which converts any format to DVD format
which is not the think I want. So, my question is, Is there a program that can keep the Dixv format and add menus to them?

Yeah pretty much any burner will work with your pc - just not the slim size which are for laptops.

Ones to look at would be LiteOn (my fav), Pioneer and NEC.
If you're in the US check out newegg.com - great prices and fast shipping.
I think you'll be much better off with a new burner. Your current one is limited to +R media and a 2.4x speed. New ones support pretty all formats and up to 20x burn speed. Don't recommend the 20x's yet - so look at 18x or 16x ones.

Hmmm for your next question - not sure on a program to use that will keep the divx format and let you add menus.
You're right Vision will convert them to dvd compliant format.
