I think so yes!! if you are using the cable that came with the box its called a RS232 you need a NULL MODEM cable 9 pin female to female as in the link I gave you, they both look identical but the wiring inside is different!!

I had the same problem with it being stuck on failed flash. I'm using windows vista with a prolific serial usb adapter cable. Turned out that i didn't have the latest windows vista drivers for the cable. Here's a link with the up to date driver...... you might want to uninstall the driver first, and then using the link below....install the latest driver.

I had the same problem communicating to the starview box. I was using a vista PC. I got my hands on an XP PC and downloaded the most recent version of the driver required for the usb serial converter from the net. I got the communication going and downloaded fine for Starview. I hope this helps, vista is not great!!

If you are sure your cable is null modem and not just rs232 try and get to a pc with xp on it that will connect the box directly to the null modem cable.

Are you unzipping the bin file with winrar?

Delete the files you downloaded and start again from scratch. Make sure you download them from eamo's library.
