i have checked the cable they appear to be the same (both ends) however one of the sides has the number 16 the other doesnt is this the wrong cable??
Have a look here for the required cable: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/674371 I know its a eurovox thread , however all the cables are the same!!
I think so yes!! if you are using the cable that came with the box its called a RS232 you need a NULL MODEM cable 9 pin female to female as in the link I gave you, they both look identical but the wiring inside is different!!
Hello.I am still having probs.Tried different pc and still cannot connect to starview.I do have null cable.my ports are on com 1.Still no joy. Please help..........................
I had the same problem with it being stuck on failed flash. I'm using windows vista with a prolific serial usb adapter cable. Turned out that i didn't have the latest windows vista drivers for the cable. Here's a link with the up to date driver...... you might want to uninstall the driver first, and then using the link below....install the latest driver.
Ive tried different pcs and cables.still no joy.Need to see someone do it.there must be something i am doing wrong.
I had the same problem communicating to the starview box. I was using a vista PC. I got my hands on an XP PC and downloaded the most recent version of the driver required for the usb serial converter from the net. I got the communication going and downloaded fine for Starview. I hope this helps, vista is not great!!
If you are sure your cable is null modem and not just rs232 try and get to a pc with xp on it that will connect the box directly to the null modem cable. Are you unzipping the bin file with winrar?
Have you had a look here >>>>>>>>> http://www.freewebs.com/starview-update/ Or here >>>>>>>>> http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/728777
Delete the files you downloaded and start again from scratch. Make sure you download them from eamo's library.
Thanks guys.Ive tried all that you have told me.No joy......Too much time spent on this.Going back to dboxes they are easier. Thanks for the help
