anyone help me with this. i want to tweak my RAM so its faster but am not totally sure how to do that. am using kingston 3 x 1G DDR2 PC2-4300 240 PIN my cpu is AMD 64 X2 4200+ 2.2GHz - this has an overclocking program so thats ok. my motherboard is a gigabyte GA-M55PLUS-S3G anyone help tweak the RAM and comp up abit would be a great help thanks
Tweak it in the BIOS. I am not sure what the timings are for that type of ram, but try to get them as low as stably possible. Ram usually runs at 5-5-5-15, but you can increase the speed by lowering the clocks to 4-4-4-12.
i have just looked in the bios and i get this list but i dont know which settings to change? my ram is 533 i think settings set memory clock - auto or manual memory clock DDR 400, 533, 667, 800 CKE power down mode - Disabled DDR II timing items - auto or manual X CAS# latency - 4T X 1T/2T COMMAND TIMING - 2T X TWTR COMMAND DELAY - 2T X TRFC2 FOR DIMM1 - 105ns DIMM2 - 105ns DIMM3 - 105ns DIMM4 - 75ns X WRITE RECOVERY TIME - 4T X PRECHARGE TIME - 2T X ROW CYCLE TIME - 17T X RAS TO CAS R/W DELAY - 4T X RAS TO RAS DELAY - 2T X ROW PERCHARGE TIME - 4T X MINIMUM RAS ACTIVE TIME - 12T thats everything it says on the section in bios screen. any ideas of making the ram faster without damaging it? dont have much of an idea about the settings for this in bios. the 3 gig of ram sticks are also cooled by 2 fans that clipped on to the whole of the 4 ram slot bays
You could try changing the 533 to 667, or 800 if 667 is stable - that would probably be the easiest way.
