Ok, folks, this the skinny. I won a $20,000 gift
card at Best Buy. I was thinking of spending
    $10,000 on a Home Theatre and $10,000 on a media-type
computer system. I also won free VOIP phone service
for 10 years. AT&T is coming out to install it 3-11.
I haven't gotten the gift cards yet.

I know how to burn DVDs. I know how to burn CDs. I have 15 years experience with computers. I know all the things that interest me. What I don't know...is given the circumstances, what you might choose at Best Buy with this amount of money. Hey, don't put me down - it's true and - it's free!! I'd like to go into the store with some fore knowledge from the real
    experts in this field.

    WOLFNIGGR,
You owe me a $30,000 Best Buy Gift Card. Pay up, bud.
Now I will really have some money to spend. I can send you a copy of an affidavit proving it.

I would see if you can setup a day that you could personally be assisted with your purchases. That is so much money I might consider buying and then selling the items. You probably could sell ipods on ebay near dollar for dollar. I dont know what kind of car you have but dvd that up too.

What the hell is BestBuy anyway?? Some American bargain basement store??

And with fifteen years of computing knowledge why would you need anyone else's advice?

I personally would just make sure that Solitaire is pre-loaded on to whatever system you go for

Excuse me! Are you from some podunk, back-water
third world country? Why are you being so mean
to me? I'm from the USA - you know that big
country between Canada and Mexico? The one
where they make the best entertainment in the
    world for English speaking audiences?

If you can't be helpful and polite, buzz off.
    PS: I'm a grandmother, not a guy. Didn't your
    mother teach you any manners?

USA, USA, oh yes now you mention it I think I know where it is.

Actually I am from a third world country and I was only trying to help you. Solitare is a must for passing the hours when you await the next shipment of back-dated newspapers from the City people.

When I earn enough money I am going to buy a PC with that mose excellent "Minesweeper" game.

Tell me, if you had $10,000 dollars to spend in cash (and not vouchers) would you have your anatomy enlarged or your face surgically enhanced so children dont point and cry at you in the street?

I don't have a problem with people pointing at me
or laughing at me. You must, because it's uppermost
in your mind. Besides, my generation was taught
    to be considerate of others.

FYI: I spent the last 2 years of my life taking care of my mother who died of cancer. The only problem
I have is being a bit behind the times on the latest technology. I thought this was a haven for people who kept up with such things, and you might be helpful.

But it looks like all you - including the moderator - want to do is mock me. This has got to be the meanest-spirited forum I have ever visited.

@ bossiemay : no actually this is the best forum in the world.Everybody comes here to get infomation or to help but we are suspicious of people who profess to having more of the green that what they have?

Apologies if you were offended by our remarks and in your case it may be true that you do in fact have the money.

    bossiemay,

What did you expect? Of all places you mention BestBuy to buy a "Dream system" ... c'mon man, take your ass to a bestbuy and you'll find out you will never come close to spending that much on a "Dream PC" from BestBuy.

    Here ... from bestbuy.com

Most expensive PC they sell. $2,999.99
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...t&productCategoryId=cat01172&id=1083716101544

Most expensive LCD they sell. $2,599.99
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...t&productCategoryId=cat01013&id=1099383173720

Most expensive speakers they sell. $349.99
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...t&productCategoryId=cat01055&id=1061770059194

    Keyboard & mouse. $249.99
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...CategoryId=pcmcat23300050004&id=1067390048669

Printer. All in one Laser $499.99
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...t&productCategoryId=cat01016&id=1074787666632

And ya still have room to upgrade more memory and maybe a better video card :)

Thank you for one kind post. I do have the
money. Me thinks jealousy has reared its ugly
head. It's the same everywhere, I guess.

If you knew what I had been through in the last 2
years and how much I depend on technology, you'd say -good for her. She got her just rewards.

bossiemay, we didn't know as you didn't tell us so sorry for the ignorance. but when you say you have $20,000 to spend on a computer system that at most tops $5-6000, you can see why we had a bit of fun at your expense.

    Flip,
Thank you for taking the time to do this. Remember,
the actual Best Buy store has many things that are
not online. And I am not interested in a Mac. I have an iMac, and it is networked with 3 other computers.

Guys, I was thinking of a network. I already have a great computer which I plan to add onto my "system."
My Cable Company is coming out to put a booster on my line tomorrow. Also, they are bringing the HDTV box.
They have a TiVo type box, but I think I would prefer to buy the DVD-R. Better? You have to rent it from them.

What I want is the best computer Best Buy has (desktop) and the best notebook. I will have double Linksys with the VOIP. Don't forget they have the Geek Squad who can tweak it anyway you want.
