Have you used a dremel or grinder to make your soldering iron tip as small as possible? Small gauge solder works helps too. I've never used an alternate point but I'm sure there has to be one on the bottom. I know for a fact that it's on the bottom of the board for 1.6v
Ok done I've soldered the D0 point to the MoBo to the right place but it still flashes that orange LED RING on the front of the XBOX and no picture on the TV and also no AUDIO T_T please help Fixed: D0 point Problems: Orange LED ring Flashing No A\V on TV
5.Orange flashing Problem: If there was a mod installed then it is most likely due to a solder splash, solder bridge, or a broken trace. Fix: Search around to see if you can find a solder splash, solder bridge or cut trace. If you find either of the solder problems desolder them. http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-163.html Found this. Check it out and see what you can find. Thanks
Did you see my previous post about the orange flashing lights? I can't tell from your pics if there are any bridged traces but I would try to clean up some of that flux so that it's easier to see. If you have a multimeter you can use that to check for continuity. By the way what wattage soldering iron are you using? I know that most people who are novices, myself included, should probably only be using a 15watt iron and never more than a 30watt.
Can you please tell me which points to test for continuity And how to clean the flux off the MoBo? I have a controlled soldering iron you know the ones where you can adjust the tempreture?
Sorry used my common sense and some searching and answered my own questions! I used a sharp needle to scrape the flux off the MoBo (see pictures Much cleaner and clearer) and used this image in finding w/c points to do the continuity on HERE are the new pictures of the installation Still the ORANGE led is flashing cannot find any solder splashes or bridges on the board, Is there any othere causes for a orange LED to flash? THANX FOR YOUR REPLIES! HOPE WE CAN FIX IT SOON...
This is not my pic only refrence Sir points 2,12 and 6 are connected is that right i thought that 6 was 5.0v and 2 and 12 were ground on mine when I do a continuity it says they are connected is that the short?
Wow that looks much better now. Good job on cleaning that up. I'm stumped if you don't have any visible splashes or messed up traces. The only thing that I can comment on is that your bank switch is set to bank 1 and I think it should be set to bank 0. I know it matters with the blue chips but I can't remember if it's an issue with the white ones since they aren't pre-flashed. Does anyone else have any thoughts or comments?
Sir when I do a continuity check on yhe points it says that points 2, 12 and 6 are connected is this right? still not booting BTW only flashing orange led on the front of XboX
Where might i be able to get a copy of that??? EDIT: I just bought a copy and now downloading you think i can fix it with that???
Thanx allot it was useless in there it just said what all the other sites said check for solder splashes or bridges But I have searched and none found? How can it be?
Anybody know how to detedct solder splashes/bridges/broken traces??? im looking for them physically but no luck T_T maybe w/ a multimeter??? Please post link if you know sites
STILL FLASHING ORANGE I've been testing the capacitors for continuity I think they should be continuos but one of my capacitors is not continuos could maybe a faulty capacitor cause the flashing orange led? Heres what happened I was playing it about 5 years ago then about after 2 months of playing the xbox fell on the floor when i tried to boot it up the HDD started clicking It was trashed so I bought the duo x2 cromwell and installed it not knowing that the d0 point was not right! so i booted it up then i booted up and came up with the normal green x boot screen so I left it there then about a month ago I decided to boot it up then there was nothing only the flashing orange led's but about 5 years ago it booted up ok I did nothing to it in that time it was sitting in my desk in the room and suddenly when I booted it up to my supprise it showed the flashing orange led's so it cant be a solder splash or cut trace bec. i didn't do anything to it it was just sitting on my desk what could have happened??? It also did not get wet!
Any ideas people? I think I dont need allot to get it to work I will give whoever helps me to get it working a duo x2 cromwell free brandnew!
When I was disassembling the xbox earlier i took out the metal RF shield and put back the xbox without it in! so it had no metal shell and the BT point was not soldered in for some reason when i turned it on It booted up with the green x and then the error screen it showed in the upper lefthand corner number 07 I booted it up several times just to make sure then the last 5 times I turned it on the sound was off but the animation (green x) still showed but no sound then i turned it off and soldered the BT point back in and tried to turn it on then the orange flashing led came back! Any ideas?
