hey DVDmike, maybe if you had a little more education you would have some maners and you would be a little smarter not to leave your DVD's out where your kids could get at them. P.s. I know Im still a " newbie" but could we keep the bantering and non computer related chit chat to your IM's. I come here to look for and give addvice, not to read about your problems with your kids and schooling.

THE PERSONAL COMMENTS NEED TO STOP NOW!

Don't make me have to start banning folks or shut this thread down. I don't want to but if the personal comments don't stop I'm going to have to!

DVDMike what happened your first response to my post was written better with average spelling and grammer. I almost took it seriously then your second message went into grade school (thats a school that teaches below 6th grade). What gives you have a computer and dont want to get a high school diploma? I heard on CNN (TV and internet news network) that a worker with a high school diploma makes on average $4,000 more per year than an illiterate person. If you have kids why not take the time and get the diploma and help your kids to achieve a better life? Its only a suggestion you could continue to bag groceries at 7-11 if you want but with the possibilities of working at mcdonalds (for high school grads) why not step up?

LOL Darth, your right of course but its so much fun now isnt it? You know in my post I was kidding about the bagging at 7-11. Im sure DVDmike digs ditches for a living and makes alot more money than I do. Plus I need someone to talk to at mcdonalds when im grilling cockroaches.

Ok I stopenZEE (thats german for stop). I couldnt resist im college educated and was always tought to reject authority. Isnt debating fun? On a lighter side I hope everyone has solved the great "hitch" debate as its an old movie now, all the people like myself who paid the premium price should have all the backups we could ever need. In 6 weeks we will have to start this discussion up again when it hits the walmart bargin bin. Lol something to look forward too.

Hmmm sound drop off is weird I dont use anydvd never needed it before. My backup of hitch is flawless. If it was only one person I would suggest media or method but two people is weird. I dont think its copy protection thats just too passive for hollywood.

Note: before you take these steps make sure you have DVDDecrypter,DVDShrink, the newest version of ANYDVD and that all your setting's are properly set (ie. that you set the output to shrink with DVDShrink and Burn With DVDDecrypter.)

All you need is the new version of Anydvd to get you started if you don't already have it if you don't? Get It! Then try these steps.
    Have Fun!!!!!!!!!!!
    1. Open up hitch in dvd shrink click on full disk.
2.On the left side of the program highlight the menus folder, then go back to the right side of the program and un-check the audio file named AC3 2ch unspecified.
    3. Then go back to the left side of the program and highlight the main movie folder.
    4. After you open up the main movie folder, on the right side of the program un-check everything except (AC3 5.1-ch English).
This should remove all those blank media files that freez up in all the rippers.
    5. Then just run the program like you have before and you should get a perfect copy good luck!

So mike you have found the error to be in the sound files? Interesting I wonder how that is possible (bad sectors within a file). Have you tried to access those files with the original in your DVD player (hooked to TV set)? Are they real files or just bogus files that your player would never see? I never used anydvd before and I had no problems however I never use all the extras anyway. To save space I remove all audio that I dont need maybe thats how I got around the problem in the first place. This still sounds to small time for hollywood.

    Hi Shinraz welcome to aD,
It could be a compatibility issue. Sometimes a newer DVD isn't reconginzed by a player that is too old (older than 2 years) other times, it's the DVD Disc itself. Many cheap DVD's won't play Memorex is amoung the champs, or chumps doing that and that is the long and short of it.

As for quality, A good grade, Hi-quality media is needed for DVD reproduction ! Phillips, Fuji +R's (not the -R's UNLESS they are made in Japan), Sony, TDK, HP, "Branded" RiData Go3's, Maxell +R (not the -R's as they cannot be trusted), Sony, Ritek G04 and G05's (not the 01's or the 02's), Verbatim - DataLife, Verbatim - DataLife Plus and media boasting "Advanced Metal AZO" BUT, it must say "Advanced METAL AZO", this indicates a superior dye and dye application on a good composite disc.As a general rule, the majority of discs manufactured by Taiyo Yuden, Mitsubishi, RICOH and most Ritek are good bets. Look closely at those discs we recommended, you will see some dye types not listed by us. Those are poor risks even though they are made by the same company. Prices online from SuperMediaStore.com, Meritline.com OR Newegg.com have gotten Ritek G04 starting at about a $ .36 (USD) a disc - and just recently, a "Super Sale" had 100 Taiyo Yuden discs, 4X for $.25(USD)ea. PLUS they all have an excellent return policy. As a passing note, when buying Verbatim's, they come with a lifetime warrantee. Return them with your sales slip OR register receipt and a new one will be shipped to replace it.

    To everyone,

Many pple here either rent DVD's to copy OR download the bootlegs from Bit Torrent, IRC and the like and make a copy long before it comes out on a disc. We also have the "swappers". Those that borrow DVD's from friends or relatives and burn copies so that they don't have to go out and purchase them.

Many are a little overly cautious in their posting BUT in Finland, where this forum is based, there is nothing illegal in doing those things I've just mentioned So talking about them isn't wrong either. When newer laws are passed we here at aD may have to change our ways but until then, all of the above are indeed, fair game to discuss and teach.

If you have any questions, refer to our rules, especially the explanation of them clarified last year by Ketola.

You can find the answers here:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487

That should clear up the air a bit and since it does, let's all play nice, shall we ?

    Peace everybody,

    Pete

I would personally like to thatnk everyone who has contributed in this thread and helped us newbies out. I know I was dreading backing up Hitch just because I saw a 9 page thread concerning it. But after reading the help threads provided I found the method which worked flawlesly. I used the Latest version of Decrypter in file mode to rip to my HD. I then opened in Shrink and removed all the garbage files and burned with Nero. No issues at all. So again thank you to all who helped your time and effort in helping those who are new is greatly appreciated.

glad you were able to find what you needed in this mess of a thread. there have been some valid suggestions re Hitch in this thread (not from me i might add!) but there's been far too many people advocating wonder cures in here and making this thread something over-complex, that even us regulars dread getting into :)
