    We all need a little help from others sometimes, and that is what a forum is for, to learn from other peoples experiences and hopefully provide some beneficial input along the way :~)

    I have a question about a back up of Hitch. I successfully made a copy with DVD Decryptor > ISO > DVD Shrink > Burned with Nero and it was all successful but there is one problem. I can't play it on my DVD player, it says loading and when it loads on the DVD player it says to enter password?!? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

    I need help...When I put Hitch in DVD Shrink, it gets to 13% analized, then the screen goes black and says Data Error (cylic redundancy check). What does that mean? Is that just the DVD itself? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    ==========================

    Now and then a drive will just flat refuse to read a disk. I have Five different DVD Burners and, on occasion, some of them will give me that (Cyclic Redundancy) Error on a Brand New Disk straight from the factory. When that happens, I just try it in the another drives. One of the Five will normally read through that error. Sometimes, however, they ALL lock up on that same error. When that happens, I just take the disk back and exchange it for a different one. It IS a FLAW in the disk, but it will NOT show up on a normal DVD Player, only a computer DVD Drive will have trouble with it.

    Clean your DVD drive read head ONCE. Try it again. If you STILL get that error, take the disk back and exchange it for a new one. Nothing you can do is going to get you past that flaw in a NEW disk. I have been down that road too many times...

    As for the password could that be a region problem?

    As for backing up one day after PURCHASING IT. I completely understand why people do that as I do it too. I dont play the disks ever. I only play movies from my computer hard drive to my TV. Why people use frisbees thats so 90ish. Bestbuy sells all the hardware you need for about $50 most computers come with all the hardware already. Get yourself a good jukebox program and load all your movies into your computer then scan down the menu system. The really cool things are using split screen and watch two movies at the same time. I sometimes use 10 or more split screens at the same time with aux source(computer(s)) and cable TV signals. Its alot of cables and wifi gear but its well worth it if you love your TV. I love to freakout the pizza delivery guy with all the signals on my TV screen. He actually asked me if I was testing missiles in my backyard as it looks like NASA control screens.

    DVD Shrink can not decrypt the newest movies. This cyclic redundancy check error message basically means it's encountered something it can't read (some protection schemes). So, if the disc doesn't have any obvious scratches, it's most likely a protection scheme. That's where DVD Decryptor comes in. Use DVD Decryptor to remove the protection scheme(s), then run it through DVDShrink to compress, then burn using your favourite burning software.

    I need some insight on this situation I have had. I recently installed a BenQ 1620 DVDRW. Used DVD Decryptor to rip Hitch without any problems. Then used DVD Shrink to make disc image (ISO) without any problems either. Now, I burned the image several times to 3 different brands of discs, and even tried 3 different burning programs. All burns were "successful", but were unreadable by dvd player and even unrecognizable by the computer. Initially, I thought it was a bad ripping job, but the image file was viewable. After ripping the movie once again, I encountered the same problem(s)... even tried copying a backup of the movie (successfully made by a friend) without success. Luckily, I still had my other DVDRW drive laying nearby (LG 4160), which i put back in my tower. First try with the LG drive, badda bing!! I tried burning a different disc image with BenQ drive, worked fine. Just can't burn an image of Hitch with BenQ.
    Has anyone with a BenQ drive been able to make a successful backup of this movie (Hitch) ??

    I am sooooooooooooooo confused. I can burn the ISO Hitch file in DVD Decrypter, but I am at a loss how to get it from there to DVD shrink. Because DVD Decrypter says my file is to big for my DVD+R. Any suggestions???
    Thanks,
    A clueles newbie :)

    @nick_star - what we should be asking here is what firmware revision have you got and exactly what media have you used (you say 3 brands) - have you used dvdinfopro (free) to verify the media codes for those three brands ?

    @lisa32 - try these -http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/200558#1083526

    I am using verbatim DVD+R because someone told me it was the best. I don't mind spending more on quality. Can someone please point out the good ones too me?
    Thanks,

    @kelli3222 - as long as you are using Verbatim [bold]Datalifeplus[/bold] you are using top quality already. The +R or -R format should be explained somewhere in the last 2 links i gave you.

    You can download dvdinfopro (free), run it and do a media info check (2nd icon from top left in dvdinfopro) and paste your details here, then hopefully we can verify which Verbatim you have (as older ones were made by crappy manufacturers)

    Verbatim datalifeplus are my personal favourite and you'll see that as you've also posted this question to the first link in my signature. Skim thru the over-technical bits! in there, and you should get a gist why top quality such as Verbatim datalifeplus, TY (Taiyo Yuden, but watch out for fakes, they're everywhere) and other top brands are what you should stick with. It costs no more to buy quality over no-name or inferior discs. And on that note pls look at second link in my sig

    There is something weird with the movie Hitch. I first tried to just use DVD Shrink with the movie but it froze at 13% analysis. I have talked to two other people that this has happened to. Then I went and used DVD Decryptor first, then went to shrink, and then burned using Nero 6. BUT, it won't play the movie. I finally got it to show a couple of clips but it's ridiculously choppy. Any suggestions would be awesome, and I'll continue to post when I make progress...

    @jbgswoosh - have a look thru the 3rd link in my signature. could be due to too high a burn speed, crap media, muiltitasking during the burn, incorrect target size in DVD Srink due to burning too close to edge of disc, out of date firmware for your burner etc etc etc; could be a combination of things - look in the link and you should find enough to either get sorted, or if none of that works, it should help you provide more detail here for us to go on
