    allright mike,
i'm running a check for crc read errors, then i guess i'll check the media? it looks like it's gonna take quite a while if each of those boxes has to fill up! i'll be back with an update as soon as there is one. btw, it was the player, not the media i was referring to as cheap. the media is fujifilm +r's made in japan, which the guy at the store told me were the best i could get back in december.

Downloaded DVDFab Express this morning in effort to backup Hitch. Program either stalled or locked my computer. Tried four times. Then used tried and true DVD Decryptor, which worked the very first time. Conclusion: Don't get your hopes up that DVDFab Express will be the next gold standard for decrypting copy protected DVDs.

i didnt like that dvdfab either. if anything, i'd go with clonedvd. i think that guy may have just been advertising for them, or has never used anything else. dvd fab did not reinvent the wheel, imrove it, or even throw a new paint job on it - they just got an old wheel and called it someting new.

I agree, DVD Decrypter worked best for copying Hitch. Even thought there are no more updates for the program....it is still the best damn ripper out there, it can still do the newer movies....DVD Decrypter is not dead yet...and as far as I am concerned it will always be with me on disk, ya know it still can do just about all from this point back! Rock on Lightning UK!!!!

Went out and bought this movie to see what the problem was, and found no problem at all. Used DVDDecrypter which reported there were nine suspect areas, ripped in file mode. DVDD inserted dummy sectors in VTS_01 Vob and VTS_10_2 Vob after that nothing else. Decrypter did its job just like it always does. The only thing on this movie is the massive amount of files, 124 which is a little excessive. For now Decrypter is still king :~)

Decrypter rip to the hard drive, then Nero recode, no problem.

Hey, just replying to say that smsmike's step by step tutorial did the trick for me. It ripped perfectly with DVD Decrypter (the newest version) and then I used Shrink and it worked fine. Although it is worth noting that the process took around 5 hours, total

new to this site, but have burned many of dvd's.
the hitch thing is a problem. I have experinced some of the same problems that others have. I have made about six copies of hitch and so far only one works, well sort of. I am using an Apex dvd player and a Koss my Apex usually plays everything and my Koss never wants to play. So normally if it plays on my Koss it will play on just about any dvd player out there. However with hitch it is just the opposite. Hitch will play on the Koss but not on the Apex. With the Apex many of the same problems listed. Mostly playing the previews and the main menu but when I press play it goes to a black screen and stops. I have used all the software listed, and some working on two more ideas if it works I will post my results. However thanks for all the info. I did find out a few things. For the new guys on the block just hang in there sooner or later someone will find out the trick to this Hitch problem. Just keep trying different things, each person computer is different what works for me might not work for you.

For those of you who have tried everything they can think of with the DVD Shrink Program, and are still getting bad burns, I would suggest this final solution. Download and run "Menu Shrink" on the Hitch VIDEO_TS file. That simple change will pull a bunch of totally unnecessary garbage out of the file (along with some User Prohibited Operations that are missed by both Decrypter and Shrink.) I tried Menu Shrink on my own "Decrypted Files" and it works just fine - So, that ground has been tested and covered for you.

As for the final burn, I would not recommend any other program except Nero's latest OEM or the Standard "Pay For" Version for this job. I tried an ISO burn and got mixed results - then, I tried Cyberlink's top of the line compression/burner program and also got mixed results.

Nero, delivered a perfect burn each and every time.

VSO's Copy To DVD and Prassi's ONES are both absolute gems for burning :)
