Well i just did this by selecting everything down to vts_10 then i selected the folder i ripped it to with re-author in dvd shrink and just burned the movie with the 5.1 audio. So for some of you having this problem this may work for you.

I used CopytoDVD to burn this movie and many others and it is a top notch program, also I use CloneDVD to encode the file to the hardrive after ripping with Decrypter :~)

    hey mike,
in your walkthrough you suggested disabling nero burns in shrink. i have xp-sp2, but have dl'ed the nero 6.6 update, do you think i can cut out that extra step and burn from shrink?

Try the trial of version of AnyDVD, I just used that with DVDShrink and it made it through the analysis fine. It removed the ArCcos, puppetlock and the two bad sectors. Then do a re-author on the movie, it has a lot of garbage.

Sure, Rae, go ahead and burn the file directly with Nero.

I just suggested the extra step for those who were following along and didn't have (or want to use) Nero's Burning program.

Everyone seems to have their own favorate DVD Burning program - Mine is Nero - However, I have others that I use from time to time as well.

    okay, thanks mike.
i think i've done with the hitch thing. it works on my pc and my movies also seem to work on other dvd players. now, maybe this question (and most of my others) are for another thread, but 1)why do the movies that another person burned work on my dvd player, but my burns wont work - and 2)how can i make my burns more universal so that they will also work in players like mine?
    thanks for all your help!

OK TRIED EVERYTHING MYSELF. GOT THE MOVIE TO WORK BY FIRST USING ANYDVD WITH DVD DECRYPTER, SECOND USING CLONE DVD2 TO COMPRESS THE FILE. NEXT I USED DVD SHRINK TO BURN. USE DVD SHRINK JUST LIKE YOU NORMALLY WOULD MOVIE/FILE YOU OPEN WITH DVD SHRINK IS LOCATED IN THE DVD CLONE 2 TEMP FILE. WOULD NOT SUGGEST USING NERO!!!!! HOWEVER I HAVE AN OLDER VERSION OF NERO, BUT IT HAS SERVED ME WELL UP TO HITCH.

You're running the same error that one of my neighbors ran on her DVD burner. The solution is to box up that disk and take it back to the store. Exchange it for a different disk.. There is nothing you can do to get your burner to read past that error, it's ON the disk.

SMSMike thanks for leading us Noobs by the nose. We need that sometimes. For someone like me who's not on here all the time, some of the explanations or instructions may as well be Greek! I was getting to 13% with Shrink as were some others here, and Decrypter was hanging at 5%. After reading through your posts I:
a-ran the dvd through my repair/cleaner because I did manage to get a scratch in it already.
b- downloaded AnyDVD which I've never used before, and the newest version of Decrypter. Don't know which I had but it wasn't the newest.
c- I don't know if it was the new version of Decrypter or AnyDVD, but Decrypter was able to now read the disk without hanging. I used the ISO mode because thats the only mode I'm familiar with.
d- I was then able to use Shrink w/ Nero to burn the ISO file as I normally would. I chose to burn the movie only, as I never watch the previews and extras anyway.
e- checked it in my DVD player and it worked fine.
Thanks for the tips! Hope the rest of you still struggling with this can figure it out.

I'm trying to rip Hitch with DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0, but its very very slow. For some reason, the ripping speed is stuck at 1.0x max and the CPU usage is 100%, which makes it impossible to do anything else. Anybody else having this issue? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I've read thru most of the problems and the several alternative answers provided, most of which involve using commercial software. I had a few of these myself at first. I managed to back up Hitch to my harddrive using DVD Decrypter V 3.5.4 with DVD43 V 3.9.2 running in the background with no difficulty. I was able to use DVDShrink V 3.2.0.15 to get the entire DVD contents to fit on one DVD. After this, burn it from the HD to media with your burning program of choice. Best of all, these programs are FREE!!!

    Hi,
I tried using Decrypter first and then Shrink but that didn't work at all. It came out saying that the burn process was completed successfully but when I went to play it, the player couldn't read the disc. Then I tried just using Decrypter to rip and then burn and that worked but the quality isn't the greatest. Anyone know why? I'm using Sony DVD-R's.
    Thanks!

    1. Set up shrink version 3.2.0.15 to automatically burn with decrypter version 3.5.4.0 only.

    2. Start decrypter and under mode select File. Let decrypter do its stuff. It may hang while it sorts the bad sectors. Be patient. When done, under mode, select ISO write. Exit out of decrypter.

2 1/2. Make a folder on your desktop for the reauthored movie.
    3. Start shrink and select open file. Browse your root structure till you see Hitch. Click once on the + and click once on the video TS. Now do your reauthoring just as you would normally and it will go much faster because the movie is on your hard drive. When its done encoding decrypter will auto start and burn to disk. Obviously your pointing your encoding to the folder on your desktop. This is how I did it and it worked perfectly for this movie and all others with the new protection.
