hi i have a compaq v3000z and ive been using my headphone jack lately and i took out the headphone jack and i dont hear anything from my speakers, i made sure the volume was maxed. When i put the headphones back in i can hear the sound but on the speakers no.
    does anyone have any ideas?

Its probably your driver. If you go to Compaq.com they have all the drivers there.

On your laptop, there should be a mute button. Press that button and see if that helps.

see if there is a volume control other than the one in windows (+- buttons, a knob, etc.)

....And if that doesn't work its most likely a driver problem.

I don't know much about this, but if the headphones work fine, how can it be a driver problem?

Theres no other explination for it. Thats the only possible reason left.

point taken, but the speakers themselves could be busted ;-)

Thats also a possibility, but what would cause them not to work?
