    @octapalos
Nothing really that I can see that should conflict w/ Nero that running.
One thing to stop would be iTunes/iPod - it also has it's own burning piece that might be conflicting with this pc.
Another would be usbdetector.exe. If you're plugging directly into a usb port this program may not be necessary.
Close internet explorer explorer when burning also (if your not already).
    ASPI is okay.
Is decrypter still burning okay for you?

Did decrypter give you a similar error to Nero like device not available or reset occured?
When you plug in the external to a usb port the drive no longer shows in 'my computer?

    Hey octapalos
Dang same error Device not available. The emaphore timeout period has expired error is also telling you the same thing - device not available.
So you still having something tying it up.
Now the question is what changed pc wise when you were able to burn?

What other devices/drives etc do you have hooked up to this laptop?

Something had to change I would think - some conflict is tying up the drive.
No other usb devices connected when burning?

Another option if the burner can connect using it and you have a port for it is firewire.

Hey i'm new to the forum ive been reading this thread and I am having the same problem. It just so happens that i have the same burner. The one time I got this thing to burn It just burned with no trouble. All other times it does the same thing. I will attach my log file then maybe one of you people who understands this better than me can maybe compare it with the others in this thread and find a common problem. I also have a laptop I tried to use the burner with with the exact same result.

My brother has a copy of nero6 I could try. Do you think that could solve this issue??

    Hi Ngate
    Here are some suggestions:
Alot of memory is in use - 81%. Free up as much as you can - no multitasking and close any unneeded programs. May be playing into the device not available error.
Drive can use a firmware update too. The latest is 1.06

Go down a notch to 4x and see if that helps.

Hold off on Nero for a minute. Try another burning program (free) and see if that one does the trick. Try ImgBurn.

Now using the drive in the laptop - same error - device not available?
Do you have another UBS cable you can try?

Yeah I've burned alot of dvd's with 7.5.1.1. No coasters, errors, etc.
Even used Vision for .dat and dvr-ms files besides avi's. No audio sync problems.
Downloaded 7.5.7.0 last night but haven't installed it.

Burn errors in the logs caused by the usual - media, firmware, dma mode, roxio driver etc?
