I've gotten to the part about setting the bitrate, but it wont let me lower the average video bitrate past 2000, and the file takes up WAY too much space (153.5%) How can I fix this? Thanks in advance.
What is it you are trying to do exactly? What are you converting and what will you be doing with the file after converting DVD, vcd ect?? for your computer or stand alone player?
Its an .AVI file (about 690 MB) which I want to put on a DVD to be played on a standalone player. If you can't tell already, I'm an ultranoob.... Thanks
Ok i got ya hey dont sweat the newb thing I was there not to long ago, you just gotta hang out here you'll learn probably more than you need Anyway to help you out Here is what I do (key word I) I use WinAvi www.winavi.com/video-converter.htm there is a free trial after that its $29.99 (well worth it trust me, especially for newbies) this program is a 2 click process, and will convert just about any File you throw at it (avi, mpeg, xvid ect) I have been using it for over 3 months without a hitch (it will save you tons of time and headaches)your choice though TMPGEnc works also but its not really for newbies Just take your file and convert it to DVD format (like i said 2 clicks and your there) After that you can either just burn it just like that with nero OR Get something like TMPGEnc DVD Author or MY favorite DVDLab (30 day trial) after that there are ways of getting it hint hint...just gotta look these programs will allow you to add menus and chapters and much more ESPECIALLY DVDLab that one is very professional here go to www.mediachance.com and check out DVDLab and see for yourself lotsa of screenshots there let me know if this helps you at all Im more than glad to answer any question you have
Thank you so much. One last question.... With WinAvi, how long will it take to convert the file? Is it 20 hours like with TMPGEnc? Thanks
I average somewhere around 20 minutes for a full movie depending on size i have never seen it take longer than 40 min
Hey, WINAVI worked great, except for one thing... Is there a way to get rid of the text on the video that says "WinAvi video converter"? that appears in the middle of the screen when you play the movie?
Also, I've tried the program out on both my computer and my room mate's, and it works fine on my room mate's (except for printing "WinAvi video converter" on the video) but on mine, it reverses the image of the video. It looks like you're watching it through a mirror. Whats going on?
the only way to remove that message is to purchase the software.... with more help directly for WinAvi go to http://www.dvd-guides.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=36 they have tons of help good luck hope this helps
