Help with using TMPGEnc Dvd Author to encode

Hello there everyone. I am trying to burn a file onto a dvd-r using the TMPGEnc Dvd Author. When I try to add the file, it says, "This is an illegal video file. For DVD standard you can only use MPEG-1 video or MPEG-2 video." The file I'm trying to burn is a dvd-rip-xvid. How do I encode it to an MPEG-1 using this program so that'll copy? Thanks for the help! Sorry if I posted this thread in the wrong section.

You can't add avi file to TDA <sigh>. You must convert it to mpeg-2 with TMPGEnc or other mpeg-2 encoders. Check out the guides on this site.
