Almost every single burning program available now allows you to burn faster than 40x. Note that the burn speed is entirely dependent on the type of burner you have unless that is, you are trying to burn a rewriteable disc at which point, the burn speed depends on the disc you are using.
Grab the Lite-ON LTR 52\32\52x burner m8. This bad boy can backup pc game protection (Safedisc& SecuROM), many audio cd protections and lightnin' fast dae(digital audio extraction) and superior accuracy as well! Shoey
^Serious bump^ on my end. My eyesight has betrayed me and I must get those Afterdawn goggles soon, lol. Nero limits you to write speed unfortunatly , however, Rotary posted on how to edit your registry so your burner will write max. Be sure that you have dma enabled on your primary& secondary ide channels m8. I has to look for the thread and hope I don't get lost... Shoey
Could i get a link to that thread as well? Furthermore, I've never had any issues burning bast 40x in Nero, I'm running an ASUS 52x24x52 (FW 1.01) -- the only problem i ever get is that it sometimes caps me out at 48x rather than 52x which may have something to do with the type of disc I'm using and possibly a 52x specifcation.
@ Praetor http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/36014 it shows actual burn speed as opposed to what you set it at in nero! i got up to 48x on 40x cdr's with DAO on a software program! theres lots of other setings there but not played with them yet? thx..._X_X_X_X_X_[small]XP 1700 TBred [Fan 28-Idle/32-Load/23M] [o/c 2004mhz = 12X167/33 = FSB-334mhz] A7V8X SATA150/RAID [Bios 1011] HERCULES 3D PROPHET [9700 Pro] DX9/CAT-3.1 VIA 4in1 Hyperion v445] XMS Corsair Platinum pc3500 512meg[/small]
Thanx.... turned out i have seen that thread hehe. Isnt it true though that the trick you showed there, although it shows the actual burn speed to be less that whatever you initially set, it is due to (P)CAV drive technology rather than Nero limiting you? I ask this because CDRWIN also gives me such limitations (i.e., i can almost never burn at 52x but rather it caps me out at 48x)
hi could be your system specs? not allowing past 40x it could be the type of files being burned? it could be the burner speeds? could be discs are not 40x? have you ran the nero drive speed tool to set all your drives? as nero will only guess!!! Thx.....__X_X_X_X_X_[small]XP 1700 TBred [Fan 28-Idle/32-Load/23M] [o/c 2004mhz = 12X167/33 = FSB-334mhz] A7V8X SATA150/RAID 2x80 gig [Bios 1011] HERCULES 3D PROPHET [9700 Pro] DX9/CAT-3.1 VIA 4in1 Hyperion v445] XMS Corsair Platinum pc3500 2x512 1024 meg 2x512[/small]
well no i have not how do i run the tests, and most files i burn are mp3's my cd's say they are 48X but meh if you could tell me how to run the tests i will see how that works
hi the tool is in the start menu find dero and you get 3 tools there! drivespeed cdspeed info tool? its in toolkit i think? NOTE when you click it! it goes to system tray click on it there!_X_X_X_X_X_[small]XP 1700 TBred [Fan 28-Idle/32-Load/23M] [o/c 2004mhz = 12X167/33 = FSB-334mhz] A7V8X SATA150/RAID 2x80 gig [Bios 1011] HERCULES 3D PROPHET [9700 Pro] DX9/CAT-3.1 VIA 4in1 Hyperion v445] XMS Corsair Platinum pc3500 2x512 1024 meg 2x512[/small]
I'm pretty sure your having the same problem as me, when you run the drive speed test your drive will most likely be reading around 6400KB/s just like mine which is faster than 40x but slower than 48x and 52x. now if you uncheck the check writespeed checkbox before you burn it will let you set it to higher than 40x and it will burn faster but not by much, I'm talking you will get an extra maybe 12 sec but once your buring faster than 40x your not saving much time anyway. Also if anyone knows what would make a drive have a slow read speed and how to speed it up, would most likely solve our problem
