I just got my DVD burner, LG 4163B, and I am using it for the first time. I have an DVD ISO image on my hard drive ready to burn. I have tried to burn it using Nero Express and Roxio and it craps out each time. Below is part of the Nero log. Near the bottom of the log I see a message about Book Type setting not supported. I am using TY 4X DVD-R media. What am I doing wrong. FYI, I run Windows 2k Pro. Thanks in advance for any help.

Try using DVD Decrypter to burn and DVD ISO file.

What size is the ISO file?

If it is bigger than 4.7 GB get DVD Shrink.

    hi

i think your problem is nero / roxio conflicting!!! they hate eachother...

also when uninstalling roxio it causes more hassle as it doesnt remove itself! you need roxio zapper from them to remove it!

but as said dvd decrypter a free app will burn iso (dam amazing app!)

The file size is 4.2G so that is not a problem. I have DVDDecrypter, but I did not see how to select an ISO image as input. I do not want to use a daemon tool to mount if not necessary. Also, I think there must be some basic problem that both Nero and Roxio failed.

I only installed the Nero Express after Roxio failed. So, not sure if it was a conflict with the two products. At least at first.

theres your prob, roxio sucks and then it killed any chance or nero giving a shot!

also the file may need ripping to hd! as the booktype thing may be its a +R going to a -R (not sure - dont quote me on that?)

the iso image is on my hard drive. i am tying dvddecrypter now and running in test mode, but still getting an error. question. my iso image is on an ntfs external drive. my main hard drive is still fat32. it is an older machine that only has 10G capacity. would that create any problems.

What is your connection on the external drive? USB 1.1, USB 2.0, SCSI, etc?

Kill all unneed processes. Try creating an addtional DVD image from a different disc and see if you get the same error.

What are the specs on your computer?

to be clear, i only have around 3-4 gigs available on the laptop hd, the external hd has around 50 gigs free. i am configuring the burner software so the temp files go to the external. i assume that should be ok.

as long as your ext cable is ok... if using a USB 1.0 port it is likely to be VERY slow :(

I too have just recently purchased a LG GSA-4163B, and am unable to burn with Ritek G-05's and Verbatim DataLifePlus(s/n 94854), both are 8X DVD-R InkJet Printable, and neither work. I did however have a friend give me a couple 4X DVD+R Memorex, and those worked just fine. From what I've seen with all of my friends burners and the rest of the burners we have at work, Verbatim has been the most highly compatible. I have the latest firmware (A104). Any ideas? All of your help is much appreciated.

i am using usb 2.0. one other question. the iso image i am trying to burn is 4.2 gig. again, it is on the external hd which is ntfs. does it make any difference when i try to burn this sucker if my laptop hd is still fat32. the laptop hd has around 5 gig of freespace on it now.
