The easiest way to sort this little ticker of a problem is to take the new drive back and replace it with one identical to the one already in the machine.. whilst your there taking the old one back, why not just take the machine with you and ask them to install it for you!! Failing that, if you want to keep the new drive, you might have to get another ATA cable with more than one connector on it and daisy them together... from your last comments it sounds like you only have one connector on the cable. Cheers. B.D>
ddp - yes both are in same cable gadgetrow - i got the new drive online and i dont wanna go to that process bc that will take a very long time
you don't have another connector on the motherboard, just that 1, the sata connectors & the floppy connector, correct?
get an ide controller pci card, put both rom drives on the card & put the hd onto the motherboard ide connector.
being that the seagate needs an ide connector to plug into on the motherboard & you only have 1 that is filled with the 2 rom drives, get an ide pci controller card to fit into 1 of your empty pci slots & do what i said above.
so all i got to do is get the ide connector and connect that to the seagate drive? do i need to do anything with the dell drive? also how much will it cost and whcih brand is preferred
thx will this work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16812156010 58can is too much consider i got the seagate hd for only 40usd
If you don't want to spend the $58 bucks then you are out of luck. Return the HDD and get a different one or sell the HDD.
I would have to agree with scubabud. That thing yeah posted look's shoody and not worth it. Yeah want to trade? I got a brand new 120 gig ide drive seagate. If yeah sata is the same gig as mine Im willing to trade even steven.
nty i dont wanna trade besides mines is 200gb i found another ide pci controller that is cheaper and it has 2x ide plugs and i dont need four of em thx ddp and the rest
