How are the DVD copies being made.
Exactly what programs are used to rip, encode and burn the disk?

    Rip DVD.
    DVDFabDecrypter
Insert disk, run program, select 'Main Movie'
    http://209.172.35.173/download/DVDFabHDDecrypter3108.exe

Shrink the ripped files to fit a single layer DVD.
    DVD Shrink
    http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/
    Download, install and run.
'Open Files' choose the folder with the DVD files.
    Click 'Backup!'
'Target Device' / 'Select backup target' > 'ISO image file and burn with DVD Decrypter'
File will be analyzed and shrunk to fit DVD (if required).

DVD Decrypter can be used to burn the final dvd.
    http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/
    Download, install and run.
Click Mode > ISO > Write
    Set 'Write Speed: to 4x.
if unsure if firmware is up to date:
Click Tools > Drive > Check for Firmware Updates..
    Exit.
    Finished with Decrypter.
Use DVD Shrink to access the burning feature of Decrypter.

Burn at low speed on media that says 'Made in Japan' or use 'Verbatim'.
