    I constantly get the popups about Blackworm virus and the need to download WinAntiVirusPRO and/or SysProtect. Any help with this unbelievably annoying problem would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Lucienck, you got some infections...

    Cleaning instructions:

    Go to Control Panel -> Add or remove programs -> Remove PartyPoker, MyWay if found (might be some letters after myway)

    Download VundoFix.exe to your desktop -> http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4

    * Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
    * Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
    * You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
    * When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
    * Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
    * You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
    * Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
    * When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
    * Turn your computer back on

    Run HijackThis and fix these entries (if found): (Do a system scan only, check entries, close all other windows, press Fix checked)

    Restart your computer to the safe mode (Press F8 button when computer is starting and choose safe mode)

    Make your hidden files visible:
    ->On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
    ->Click the View tab.
    ->Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.

    Delete these folders if found:
    C:\Program Files\-->MyWaySA
    C:\Program Files\-->PartyGaming

    Empty the Recycle Bin

    Make your hidden files invisible again:
    ->On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
    ->Click the View tab.
    ->Under Hidden files and folders, click Do not show hidden files and folders.

    Restart your computer normally.

    Post a fresh HijackThis log and the contents of C:\vundofix.txt to here so we can see if your computer is now clean.

    Ok good, you're clean now =)

    But you should update your Java so you don't get infected in the future : (Vundo spreads through a vulnerability in older java versions)

    1. Click Start->Control panel and double-click Java icon (coffee cup)
    2. Move to Update tab and update Java by clicking "Update Now". After that do a restart.
    3. If you can't make automatic update, get new version manually from here:
    http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

    4. After restart go back to your Java settings thru control panel (Start->control panel->java).
    5. Select Temporary Internet Files and click Delete Files.
    6. Make sure that all these three are checked:
    Downloaded Applets
    Downloaded Applications
    Other files

    7. Click ok in Delete Temporary Internet Files window (Attention: This removes all loaded applications and applets from cache)
    8. Click ok to close Java window.

    Yeah I'll just have to get the new version of Java manually, when i try to update it just sits on "preparing to install". But that is beside the point! I really appreciate your help!! Thank you very much, your directions were superb. I was also wondering, which part of that process actually got rid of the infection? Or was it all pretty necessary.     Vundofix took care of that trojan vundo infection.

    MyWay Search Assistant and PartyPoker were uninstalled by uninstallers and the crap that they left behind was cleaned with HijackThis and also manually by deleting the folders.

    You don't have a firewall on your computer. Donwload and install one firewall.

    I have set *.gdls as one of my trusted sites, someone was trying to help me through the problem. Here is my vundo fix thing. This is a laptop computer and I believe there is a firewall on our server (here at our church) but when I take it home perhaps that's the problem. I'm a little dumb about these things - What's the purpose of a firewall?

    Ok good, vundofix took care of that trojan.vundo infection =)

    A firewall protects your network (or pc) from unwanted Internet traffic, such as hacker attacks and malware threats. So you should always have a firewall when you're connected to a network or internet. You might have a firewall at the church but you do use your computer somewhere else too, right?

    I'll suggest that you install a firewall. You propably have no inbound protection at the moment either (you can't determine that what applications are allowed to connect the internet and what are not)

    And you have an outdated Java at the moment so it must be updated so you won't get infected by trojan.vundo again (it spreads through a vulnerability in older java versions)

    1. Click Start->Control panel and double-click Java icon (coffee cup)
    2. Move to Update tab and update Java by clicking "Update Now". After that do a restart.
    3. If you can't make automatic update, get new version manually from here:
    http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

    4. After restart go back to your Java settings thru control panel (Start->control panel->java).
    5. Select Temporary Internet Files and click Delete Files.
    6. Make sure that all these three are checked:
    Downloaded Applets
    Downloaded Applications
    Other files

    7. Click ok in Delete Temporary Internet Files window (Attention: This removes all loaded applications and applets from cache)
    8. Click ok to close Java window.

    ->On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
    ->Click the View tab.
    ->Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.

    Delete this file if found:
    C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe (be careful with the path!)

    Use the Windows "search" function (make sure that you search from hidden files and folders and from system folders too)
    Search for this and delete if found: lockx.exe

    Run ATF Cleaner -> Check select all -> Press Empty selected

    Make your hidden files invisible again:
    ->On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
    ->Click the View tab.
    ->Under Hidden files and folders, click Do not show hidden files and folders.

    Scan yor computer with Ewido and save the log file.

    Restart your computer normally.

    Download F-Secure Blacklight to your desktop -> http://www.europe.f-secure.com/exclude/blacklight/blbeta.exe

    Run a scan with Blacklight, a log named fsbl**********.log will appear to your desktop.
    DO not rename/remove anything with blacklight yet.

    Post the following logs to here:
    1. fresh HijackThis log
    2. Ewido's log
    3. contents of fsbl**********.log (from your desktop)
    4. contents of C:\vundofix.txt

    OK ryan8787, looking good but there is one thing that must be cleaned manually....

    Press Start
    -> Run
    -> Write this to the field: regedit
    -> Press OK

    At first, you should take a backup of your registry:
    -> (In regedit) select My Computer right-click it and press Export
    -> Name it to RegBackup and save it to the C:\

    Then go: (in regedit)
    ->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    ->Software
    ->Microsoft
    ->Windows
    ->CurrentVersion
    ->Run

    -> Search the following entry and delete it:
    NI.UWA6P_0001_N73M1004
    -> Close Regedit

    Post a new HijackThis log.

    Then you still don't seem to have a firewall on your computer -> Install one firevall.

    Then you should update your Java: (Vundo spreads through a vulnerability in older java versions)

    1. Click Start-> Control panel and double-click Java icon (coffee cup)
    2. Move to Update tab and update Java by clicking "Update Now". After that do a restart.
    3. If you can't make automatic update, get new version manually from here -> http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
    4. After restart go back to your Java settings thru control panel (Start->control panel->java).
    5. Select Temporary Internet Files and click Delete Files.
    6. Make sure that all these three are checked:

    Downloaded Applets
    Downloaded Applications
    Other files

    7. Click ok in Delete Temporary Internet Files window (Attention: This removes all loaded applications and applets from cache)
    8. Click ok to close Java window.

    BTW, thank you soo much . My system is running much smoother now and i love it. I have a laptop that is in pretty bad shape too...coul i bother you for some similar help with that machine? Only if you like doing this kind of stuff though. I really appreciate everything that you've helped me with.

    Your computer is clean now, but you haven't installed a firewall...Install one....

    And yes, you can post a log from your laptop to here, we'll check that too =)
