hewlet p notebook

    have just got a hp notebook with the dreaded vista on it i formatted disk and tried to load XP , which i have done dozens of time on other pc s .howevr after original setup it says there is no hard drive attached yet i can fdisk and format it. Any help out there

    I'm not so sure this will work but try it and see what happens.. Go into BIOS and change the first boot device to your hard drive.. This shouldn't matter, you should be able to boot cd's, dvd's, pen drives etc. w/o any trouble.. I'm just curious what happens.. I have been considering doing the same thing to my HP notebook.. I want to set it up for a dual boot, Linux being my primary and XP for games, I have no need for Vista. I hate to hear that this has happened to you.

    There is a easy answer i found out
    go into bios and disable the sata device in config settings. works like a dream now.
