Damn...seven or eight amish girls were just killed in an amish school west of the city. Some guy just walked in, told fifteen boys to leave, tied up the girls and executed them then killed himself. What's all this sh** with schools these days?? A couple of years ago, it was post office employees (hence the expression "going postal".)

You know, if I were in high school now instead of 40 years ago, I'd probably be a high school drop out too.

Ah well, forgive the rant. Just in a bit of shock though, frankly, I don't know why given the frequency of this crap.

Yeah I read that one gerry, makes me sick. It seems a frequent thing in USA (and Canada a few weeks ago) that people, mainly kids are shooting and killing people in the schools..

@lethal...yeah, it's really weird! This is school shooting number four in one week! Amish country of all places though; that's pretty weird.

i saw a documentary about the Amish, called the Devil's Playground. it was about their tradition of Rumspringa (sp?) and whatnot. very good film to watch. i find this less surprising than the rest of you because of it, i feel.

@billyboy...I thought, perhaps, you're nation's nautical history might run through your veins: a seafaring freudian slip, for lack of a better term LOL! And again, pay attention in class meboy! (Damn, I can tell you sure don't have nuns teaching you or you'd envy the demise of the aforementioned Amish kids!)

@auslander: you're absolutely right! I had an Amish roommate whose family left the church (actually, his grandparents left to join the somewhat more liberal mennonites and his parents left the mennonite church to join the ranks of the drunken idle rich rather than the humble car bumper painting variety (Chrome is "flashy" so they'll buy their caddy or their corvette and paint the chrome black to be modest and humble LOL! If you've never seen it, I kid you NOT! It's hysterical!) Anyway, he use to tell me the greatest stories! (He was a great guy although his eyes were a little too close together for my comfort LOL!...for those who don't know, they're rather well known for marrying their own cousins.)

BTW: what do you think of my new bronze:

It's 30 inches long, about 12 or 13 wide and maybe about 10 in high. I phoned the Vatican museum but they refused to sell me the original LOL! (I collect small roman/greek military bronzes and marbles.)
