High quality Sony camcorder but low quality video saves on my pc!!!

    i have a sony camcorder.

    everytime i save the video on my computer the quality is sooo low.

    i tried changing frames per second and resolution.

    is there a good program out there???

    could this also be because of the type of cable i am using?

    i am using mini usb cable.

    i have option of DV out and A/V out.

    please help asap. urgent. thanks

    Is the cable old? Maybee if you buy a new cable you will have better quality. If I'm wrong someone correct me.

    Try using firewire. Its faster than usb. Also what codecs yeah using? xvid is pretty good....

    Ozzy is correct. Use a firewire connection from the video camera to your computer, and capture as an .avi file. I believe that Sony references the cable as iLink.

    If you connect via USB, most software will see your camera as a webcam, and the quality of what you capture will be junk. The USB connection is more for downloading stills.
