Ok I've been using the irc search engine packetnews.com for 2 years now and never had a problem except for an occasional popup. However I went to it the other day, clicked on the search box and AVG Free picked up 3 trojans so I healed them. I scanned my computer with AVG, Spybot, and Ad-Aware SE. I read that I should've ran those program programs in safe mode. I also read that a-squared was a good program so I installed it. I then restarted in safe mode. I ran a-squared free and it came up with a whole bunch of stuff but only 3 high risk threats so I got rid of those and some of the medium risk threats. I then ran AVG Free and it didn't come up with anything. I ran Ad-aware Se and it came up with one thing so I deleted it. I then ran Spybot and came up with nothing. Finally I restarted in normal mode, installed HijackThis, ran it and here's the file:

Hello, I looked at your log and found these things you should fix:

Wow man, you have alot of trojans on your pc.... I also see that you are running mcafee, comodo and avg firewalls, this is not good! You should decide on one and uninstall the others.

AV and firewalls are not considered trojans yet. Typo, maybe? :)

Thanks for the response. I fixed all the things you said except for C:\WINDOWS\system32\cfpsys.exe because it didn't show up after I scanned. Should I just delete the file? Also I noticed that some of the files I fixed are still on my computer. Should I delete them or have they been "fixed"? You also told me to fix
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [phZCJCVb] C:\WINDOWS\oygqxma.exe
    should I fix
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [<°ÜZJÝYMÝlY«Q°aÆ+À¼C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe] C:\WINDOWS\oygqxma.exe
    aswell?

Also AVG is my antivirus, Comodo is my firewall, and Mcafee used to be my antivirus. I don't ever use Mcafee anymore so I just uninstalled it.

Umm... yes, fix those two lines. Whenever random junk appears in a HijackThis log in any way or form it's never good.

    Waymon, do your stuff :)

    Ok I fixed the line:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [<°ÜZJÝYMÝlY«Q°aÆ+À¼C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe] C:\WINDOWS\oygqxma.exe
and everything is still running properly. I google searched cfpsys.exe and found that it is associated with a folder password protecting program which I did install at one point. So I don't think that file is a threat. Also should I delete the files that I fixed and are still on my computer (their original location not the backup folder) or has HijackThis alterted them so that they are not longer a threat?
    Thanks,
    jiglybutt

HJT just kills the process/toolbar associated with the program, and only in the case of O2s does it sometimes delete the file. So, the backups should be safe.
