Hooking up speakers to Panansonic Viera

    I got a panansonic 50" tv and I want to hook up some speakers to it that use RCA red and white cables. How would I accomplish this WITHOUT a reciever, theyre too expensive. I just need a way to use my speakers with the tv. maybe hdmi out and connect the rca speakers because plugging up the rca dorectly to the tv dosent work. I also have a coax connection and still havent chosen the speakers I want to use.
