@Ireland...Mea Maxima Culpa! ...You are absolutely right about the "Fat Chicks" thread. It was both rude and insulting. My apologies to anyone I've offended. Don't know what got into me. All the planets must have aligned and pulled on the brain...it seems a number of us suffered from foot in mouth disease.

Thanks for that link Ireland; you were right, I found a lot of interesting material there. I'll have to go back and read it more thoroughly when I'm through with work. I'm sure Darth would find material of interest also. Thanks

@Rav009 and Billybob: I'm holding you two responsible for dragging me into the "Fat Chicks" thread...at 53, I'm still young and impressionable and you should have known better than to lead me astray LOL!

looks like the ipood gets it in france,

France to Apple: don't act so surprised

French Trade Minister Christine Lagarde, currently visiting the US, says that Apple should have expected the French initiative that looks to divorce iTMS from the iPod,
    http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/330621

i believe that ye should have a right to use ye music and videos any way and anywere ye want to..to me the mp3 music is junk..and apple is hosing ye with there drm and ipood..isay wake up..

    quote and i agree 100%

    The magic is gone

I remember buying records when they were vinyl. I loved nothing better than to set them up and listen to them on a good stereo and plow through the artwork.

There was something magical in that sense of it belonged to you.

I'd take off the wrapping, carefully slide it out of the wrapper, lay it on the turntable, clean it, and then carefully adjust the controls while it started playing, and then lay back with that artwork and just enjoy the magic.

That's no longer part of the listening experience. The magic is gone. So is the artwork.

With the mp3, the ambience isn't there and I can't hear the stick hit the cymbol before it rings. Nor can I hear the guitar pick hit the string the moment before the string rings. What's worse, the price for this junk has gone up and I can't legally put it on the reel to reel to enjoy as a long playing tape that doesn't need to be fooled with for a long time.

Mp3's don't do it for that sort of equipment. You always hear what's missing and notice it's missing. That's not quality. Nor is it worth a dollar for that sort of sub-par product, even if the artists were as good as they were then (and they're not for the most part).

I see nothing desirable in the music today. Not from the subject range, not from the artists, not from the quality. Worse, the majority of the music I see today that I might be interested in, I already have. I don't need to buy Greatest Hits because I have the originals. Those originals are not hampered with any sort of anticopy. If I want a cassette, ok, if I want a CD, that's ok too.

No hassles and no issues in how I want to use them.

Someone in the cartels has forgotten that how the buyer wants to use the music is everything. Without that, there isn't much need in buying a rental limited edition that isn't worth the money to begin with.

But let's really make it good and give out free rootkits and spyware that you can't cancel or refuse. Yeap, sounds like a real bargain to me.

    Lay Down the Rules!
Typical macho man married typical good-looking lady and after the wedding, laid down the following rules:

"I'll be home when I want, if I want and at what time I want - and I don't expect any hassle from you. I expect a great dinner to be on the table unless I tell you otherwise. I'll go hunting, fishing, boozin, and card-playing when I want with my old buddies and don't you give me a hard time about it. Those are my rules. Any comments?"

His new bride said, "No, that's fine with me. Just understand that there'll be sex here at seven o'clock every night - whether you're here or not."

I removed the latest windows updates after trying everything else I could think of and clonedvd worked fine again. Has anyone else had this happen? Is windows tryin g to stop dvd copy software?

Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell after you install security update MS06-015

    Article ID : 918165
    Last Review : April 15, 2006
    Revision : 1.0

    SYMPTOMS
After you install security update MS06-015 (908531) (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms06-015.mspx), you may experience one of more of the following issues:
    • Unable to access special folders like "My Documents" or "My Pictures".
    • Microsoft Office applications may stop responding when you attempt to save or open Office files in the "My Documents" folder.
    • Office files in the "My Documents" folder are not able to open in Microsoft Office.
    • Opening a file through an application's File / Open menu causes the program to stop responding .
    • Typing an address into Internet Explorer’s address bar has no effect.
    • Right-clicking on a file and selecting Send To has no effect.
    • Clicking on the plus (+) sign beside a folder in Windows Explorer has no effect.
    • Some third-party applications stop responding when opening or saving data in the “My Documents” folder.
    CAUSE
The MS06-015 security update package installs a new binary, VERCLSID.EXE, which validates shell extensions before they are instantiated by the Windows Shell or Windows Explorer. On some computers, VERCLSID.EXE stops responding. The following have been identified to cause VERCLSID.EXE to stop responding:
    • Hewlett-Packard's Share-to-Web software. There have been reported issues where HP software causes the VERCLSID.EXE process to stop responding. In particular, HP's Share-to-Web Namespace Daemon (Hpgs2wnd.exe) which ships with:
    • HP PhotoSmart software
    • Any HP DeskJet printer that includes a card reader
    • HP Scanners
    • Some HP CD-DVD RWs
    • HP Cameras
Share-to-Web Namespace Daemon can be found in the "C:\Program Files\hewlett-packard\hp share-to-web\hpgs2wnd.exe" folder. Share-to-Web is auto-started from both the Startup menu and the Run registry key.
    • The VERCLSID.EXE process is flagged by Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall. Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall (http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm) has a feature which flags any attempt by an application to launch another application for the user's approval. Kerio is flagging Explorer.exe's launch of VERCLSID.EXE. When this occurs, VERCLSID.EXE’s execution stops until the user clicks through Kerio's notification dialog. Users can configure Kerio to allow VERCLSID.EXE to execute without prompting.
    RESOLUTION
    • Hewlett-Packard's Share-to-Web software. The MS06-015 (908531) (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms06-015.mspx) security update includes a "white list"; VERCLSID.EXE will not scan any extension that appears on this list. Adding the HP shell extension corrects the problem. Manually edit the registry:
    1. Log on to the computer with an account with administrator privileges.
    2. Click the Start button and then click Run.
    3. Type Regedit and then click OK.
    4. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Cached
    5. Right-click "Cached", point to New, click "DWORD Value", and then enter:

    {A4DF5659-0801-4A60-9607-1C48695EFDA9} {000214E6-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} 0x401

    6. Set the Data of this value to 1
    7. Close the Registry Editor.
    8. Use Task Manager to end the Verclsid.exe process or restart the computer.

Note: If other third-party COM controls or shell extensions are determined to cause this issue, the same method must be used to add the appropriate shell extension.
    • VERCLSID.EXE process flagged by Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall. Kerio Personal Firewall Users can configure Kerio to allow VERCLSID.EXE to execute without prompting.
It has not been determined if there are other third-party COM controls or shell extensions that may also cause this problem. @Ireland,

What version of XP? SP1 or SP2? Computer with SP2 updates, CloneDvd2 appears to working properly, chapters and previews running as always. Haven't updated computer with SP1 as of yet.

These of course are with legit software. Just to let people know, my TrendMicro Internet Security 2006 now checks for validation of authenticy before giving definition updates. Nod 32 isn't due for renewal until end of summer.

Good morning all. It's coffee, a hearty breakfast and more coffee still. I'll be moving soon and I'm shopping to furnish the place; do I want the simple elegance of Scandanavian designs or do I want to go for that overstated victorian brothal look. Decisions Decisions. Have a great day everyone!
