Hi, i am new in this field, and i have some questions...
i have the GR-DVL160EG camcorder from JVC, and i use the FireWire port from the Audigy sound card...i downloaded the movie from the camcorder, using several programs (Adobe Premiere is the best so far) but, the captured files are huge...so i need something to convert them into DivX...

I've tried VirtualDub, but he sais something about dvds error...

can anyone tell me what codec or program i can use for capture so i can make DivX files from DV format?

    thank you_X_X_X_X_X_[small]Dis-Funk-tional ProXnet[/small]

I just pop the DV Footage i captured into a video editing program.
Then i go to save as, render as, or export to:
And then on the bottom in the file format box,
    i choose AVI.
And then you can choose options or advanced or something similair.
There you can select DivX 5 or DivX ;-) from a drop-down list. (go through all tabs till u can see a drop-down list, usually default is Indeo or Cinepak)
Then in the DivX Codec (DivX 5) choose De-Interlace all frames.
    Then you can encode away.
    Works fine for me!

You can use Premiere... first capture the footage as 'uncompressed AVI', then export it in DivX format.

If you choose to use VirtualDub, you are getting the 'dvsd' error because you don't have a DV codec installed that matches the one with which the video was captured. If you can install a DV codec you can get it to work.
