How can i make my computer faster

    503 is the same as 512. I'm not excatly sure why this is...my PC does the same thing. Sometimes I can go to My Computer properties and it will say 512 RAM, other times it will say 503 RAM. So, it wasn't a typo just a glitch.

    maybe 8 meg is used by onboard video?

    hey guys, you know what you said about changing the amount of onboard memory. can someone please tell me how to do that. thanks

    in the bios. read your motherboard manual or user guide for how to do it.

    my adapter is called via tech vt8361/vt8601 graphics. there is currently only 8 mb of memory. my system has 256 mb total memory

    Try defragmenting your computer. It won't speed it up, but will rearrange your files so you can access them faster. Try DisKeeper: http://www.diskeeper.com/defrag.asp
    Also, try System Mechanic: http://www.iolo.com/sm/6/download.cfm
    System Mechanic has a defragmenter as well, but it's the best when it comes to disc cleanup.
    They're not free, but a trial is what can get you started!

    jaysfan, you need more ram, at least 256 more. you can also get a 128 mb vidseo card for 35 now, so that is a good investment. dont give more to onbaord video if you only have 256 total.
