I wondered if there are any tests you have to pass to get rid of your Newbie status next to your name on the posts ?

Yes, if admin yells "Jump!" your reply has to be "How high?" ;-)

Nah, the Newbie changes to Member based on the number of posts to forums. But the change is done manually by our admins and currently we check the counters only every 6 weeks or so and adjust levels then, so don't get p*ssed if you stay in Newbie level longer than you think you deserve to.

Other option would to be remove the user levels -- we introduced them couple of months ago, because our users demanded those.

No count really, normally around 10 most posts posted Members that I remember from the boards (==I've seen at least one comment made by the user that was good, accurate, answered to something well and was Ok in other ways as well). So, no hard numbers in there -- and Sr Member status takes time, even that I have already bunch of guys who I'm going to "promote" on next round :)

Anyway, the system will be changed hopefully within next couple of months -- we'll probably introduce non-aD-staff modedators who make the decisions after that.

The only problem I find on other user boards with post counts is that all of a sudden a few of the big posters start to moan about "lurkers" - those who don't post a lot.

But... sometimes the big posters are not posting a lot of things worthwhile, they are just posting to increase their count (and therefore their status, oh, and therefore their manhood ;) lol!)

Anyway - this is a great board and the more DVD-R etc. will take off this place is going to be very very busy, imho!

    Cheers!

Dang! PayPal would not accept the US$50million I tried to send you - either that or my credit card doesn't have that limit!

Depending on the amount you paid for the 10%, your level could even be in best possible scenario "Generous Fool" ;-)

seamonkey: Actually that issue has been fixed now -- accounts never switch to "inactive" for just being inactive, but they do that if your email address becomes invalid (i.e. emails that aD's system sends to you start "bouncing" back).
