I have a new Cendyne 48x12x48 CD burner and I cannot determine the manufacturer.

My old Cendyne says "Lite-On" in the BIOS, but this one just says something like "CDRW 48x" with no other info.

I've looked all over the case and can't find anything to clue me in.

Is there a program that will tell you the manufacturer of a CD burner?

I'm not aware of any software program that will tell you who the manufacturer is. Pull the drive out of its bay and look on the top of the cdrw. I have a Polaroid BurnMAX48x cdrw and the manufacturer is Top Glory and it is a BTC drive.
The CenDyne isn't considered a "2 sheep" burner so I would "assume" it isn't a rebagged Litey.
If you have experience flashing drives with firmware then the quick and easy way to find if the CenDyne is a rebagged Litey is to flash the drive with Litey 48x or 52x firmware (yes, you can overclock burners). I use MTKFlash Win IDE.

Don't you think I would have already looked on the drive? :(

There is NOTHING about a manufacturer--it doesn't even say "Cendyne".

I know--it seems strange to me, too.
