Yep, the 180 was a 2.4 chip i did manage to get it to 2552 and that's where it's been for the last 2 years or so.
I remember them being bad, ironically my system was a prebuild and they hooked it up to a fan controller for me, but without checking - the fan controller had a faulty line so my chipset ran passively all that time. I checked the temperature of it though, and actually it wasn't that bad.
I have a quick question.. Since the only parts i'm missing now are the processor, operating system, and hdd, can I assemble it all in my case? Or do I have to wait for everything all at once?
Assemble it all if you like, if you've got the case and motherboard, there's no reason you can't do it now, just make sure the CPU socket doesn't get damaged.
Since I'm on a carpet, what should I do since I don't have an anti-static bracelet? Can I use something else instead?
Just grab hold of the bare metal part of a radiator pipe with both hands before you begin, then just be sensible, don't rub your hair, the carpet or pets while you're working.
I have a furnace, kinda like a boiler, but different, and I don't think i would wanna touch that bad boy..
Probably wouldn't help even if you did. As long as you haven't got much of a static charge on you in the first place you'll be ok.
I just touch the metal on my case before I touch a part. My A+ teacher even says that's acceptable if you don't have a bracelet. I've been doing it since I started building PCs and I haven't fried anything yet, lol.
I have yet another question =/ Does the fan need to be facing up or down? It's on an antec 900 case, the thing that bugs me id that the letters are upside down..
antec 900 isnt the best for cable management, but its still a good case. are you talking about the large 200mm fan up top? i dont know which way its suppose to be facing but the top fan is an exhaust, so it blows out. 2 front ones are intake, the side fan on the window is intake and the rear fan is exhaust. i hope this is what your talking about.
Put the PSU upsidedown so the fan faces upwards. It gets far better airflow that way round. There are cases that elevate the PSU at the bottom so it can still take air from below like normal, but I don't think the 900 is one of those.
Alright thanks I hate to just have the computer there though =/ There's no way of knowing if I got a defective part or not, heck, I can't even know if my monitor has any dead pixels or anything. Sighs... Does the fan suck air in and blow it out the back or is it the other way around?
