how get dvd mid info, using dvdrom drive?

do any of the dvd information/identifier programs, work on a dvdrom drive?
dvdidentifer doesnt
my laptop doesnt have a burner,
i want to use the lap for checking the mid of sample disks

 

I know of one, but I can't think of the name exactly. I think it is something like acolyte-id
