bet i could take a decent stab at that with the general response. sp2 is nothing but malicious spyware and poorly functioning security crappola, over-hyped by MS in another attempt to dumb-down the average computer user.

but then again, i can't speak for Flip. he is far beyond me, a mecha on the same level as the master tech-ai, ddp.

uniique, they get bigger than that. i have a 60 gig Creative Zen that rocks my world. it's nothing new; they've been around at least a few years.

@Auslander, I think Uniique was referring to the creative zen touch (ipod lookalike) were you, uniique? if so, yes, the creative zen touch does come in 40 gb. at a slightly higher cost. but i got mine off ebay for 160 pounds, which is actually good considering the 20gb one retails at 180 pound. also the nomad zen which u have is fantastic! i used to have one but i got the touch for the slightly smaller size and the touchpad.

meh...there's something like 10 or 15 different creative zen models...when one doesn't specify, one goes for the outermost limits :D

unique, your sig is wayyy to large, man. for the dial-uppers, that takes about 5 minutes to load, and that can really add up. it shouldn't be much over 90 kb, if that much. yours is about 700 kb, so you can see the problem. please change that.

and yeah, those media center things can be crazy expensive. arg. :-/

    Problem Corrected.

So what would be the best one to buy. I'm looking for one large enough to hold a good bit of movies. What do you recommended?

thank you for the quick and extremely polite sig change! on behalf of many, much obliged! :)

for a little media center like that? personally, i think your best deal would be a cheapo laptop with a dvd-rom and a good external hard drive. by the time it's said and done, it would cost about the same amount of one of those Zens, and could hold 200 or so gigs.

but that could get difficult to carry around. i'd still do it, just for the bigger screen and mega-multitude of uses. those portable media centers really belong in a niche of their own, one of money and extreme, over-loaded convenience X-D.

but back to the portable MC's...i haven't done too much research into them beyond that Zen and another one i saw on http://www.thinkgeek.com. i just kinda gave up :-(

Same here, I kinda gave up. Maybe that laptop idea you said would be the better way to go. My current laptop is a Toshiba P-25 Series and it's about 9lbs so not to mobile in my opinion.

Maybe an IBM or slimline Dell would be good to bombard with .avi files.

As for the signature thing, no worries man. I'm here to help people and that was obiviously a hender to many. I just didn't realize it but you made it known and it's done.

heck, you could get yourself a nice, light, refurbished lappy off of newegg.com and a good, brand new external hard drive. the battery life and capabilities would bury all of those little media centers. something with a 12 inch screen and a carry bag...that would be pretty good for movies/music on the go. *edit* a padded carry bag would be a godsend for such a set up, lol.
