    There were many of us that stated there was going to be a problem with useless posts when the title system was changed to post count. Thats exactly what has happened. The old system was better but dRD had to make changes to stop a few members that argued about their title statis and how they got there. So we are stuck with this system now. You felt like someone noticed you and the amount of help you have been to the forum under the old system when you got promoted. Now its just a numbers game.
    Pulsar is right on this matter.

    I second that but what can we do? Hopefully people will realize title doesn't matter as long as you enjoy the atmosphere at aD, but some of the newbies don't realize this. I didn't know myself then I came back more often and now I don't care about how many posts I have.

    I think the title system should be dumped all together,I'm with the boss on this one....I hate titles.

    titles are crap, but with human prejudice [magnified by the anonymity (sp?) of the internet] makes it at least half-way necessary to order and reason around here.

    Yes but if the title was not really earned(cheap posts),what does it mean if you don't have the knowledge to back it up?

    I agree 100%. I would rather see the members date of joining under their name. In most cases the longer someone has been on here the more you should be able to depend on their answers or knowledge base. As with all things, there may be exceptions to that rule. But for the most part it would be somewhat accurate.

    jim--i would hope by then that maybe the person could be reprimanded or banned. it makes me think of rap4life or need_for.

    jerry--the date is a good idea, but i doubt many would accept it. maybe a dual system, like on other forums?

    I love hanging out and chatting in safety valve, but if that were eliminated from the post count total,then maybe the title system would at least carry a little more weight.

    instead of 1766 posts, i'd probably only have about...500-700...maybe 1000...arg, now i feel so useless.

    & tell who has been here for any length of time & hopefully tell who is or isn't knowledgeable. there are members who do it for bragging rights & andmerr knows of 1 i am talking about who is a member. the ones that post here also don't last long either like rap4life

    It was suggested that the safety valve and testing thread not be counted, but I guess it was a problem to sort it out that way. The Senior level and Addict level were hand picked before. I think 1 top level should be hand picked to show that more than post count was considered and that those hand picked members do their best for the forum. Maybe let the mods pick them if the admins are too busy. After so much time passes, everyone will be an ADDICT.

    The mods see the knowledge,or lack thereof,of the more frequent posters firsthand.
