Yeah I was gonna say it's out of stock. I'm typing from my new build now. Didn't have any problems until I installed the cool n quiet drivers, rebooted and went to BSOD. I almost thought I got out of it with NO problems... I uninstalled it, went to get the newest nforce4 AMD drivers (35MB), downloaded it to 84% then just stopped downloading. Went to Mirror 1, downloaded fine, when I try to install it, it says I downloaded from 3 different places. It was v6.70, so I'm downloading v6.66 now because ASUS's drivers require v6.5 or higher to install otherwise there will be a file system crash. Geeze people. I'm downloading 3dMark03 now, my last machine benched at around 1511, we'll see how this one goes.
Oh and about the case. You can pick any case you want really, just make sure it's ATX, and make sure if it doesn't come with a PSU that you get one. Oh and I got the whole chipset drivers straightened out.(I think) Edit: I'm just waiting on 3dMark now... 50%. I have a 1Mbit connection, so it's not slow, but not as fast as I wish. Oh and that Raidmax case I pointed you at I know is a good case. It was my case before this one. It comes stock with 5 80mm fans. Never had a heating problem whatsoever. Yeah, I downloaded the lastest Cool n Quiet drivers and didn't have another problem, what's neat is that the temp in my case before the drivers was around 103F, now it's staying around 97F... I didn't think I'd really make a difference.
damn dude. is it hard to build it? i'm guessing when i boot it first i'm gonna have like a million problems when i get mine lol. but anyway, i was looking at a torrent site and i found a bunch of xp pro. can i just download it then burn it straight to the cd? then i wanna boot it on my current pc to upgrade from home to pro.
Check your PM's dude. And check out my sig.. Check out those 3d Marks... No typos. 1511 on my old system 11541 on this one. (No overclocks yet either)
It's really not very difficult, but it does take a keen eye for some stuff. Most all the instructions for building are in the motherboard instruction manual. It's really just screw in and plug in power plug in connection. The hardest part for me is getting that damn fan on the CPU.. 3 builds and it always gives me the most trouble.
@byron02 is the windows xp pro gonna work on my current computer as well cuz i wanna upgrade it while i'm at it. it's kinda crappy computer though lol.
Thanks,I was just wondering,I hav'nt enabled cool and quiet yet as I understood you needed a stock fan/sink to do so. This being a Thermaltake may not work correctly.Have you heard differently?
No, it's no good installed over an existing OS. I tried too. But it worked great on my new build. I had to specify whether or not I wanted a quick format of my 250billion bytes, I chose the slow one, took over an hour, but I wasn't going to shrug of any performance gains I could get.
@Byron02, Wow! I am truly amazed.I thought my system was pretty good I downloaded and ran that program and the results were 5155 twice. You truly have a nice machine there, congratulations! Maybe I'll try a little O.C. tommorrow and see if that helps..
Why thank you box. I am truly impressed with my machine too. I click restart, and it shuts down and is back up and loaded in less than a minute.
Hey, I want to get rid of my old pc and build an entirely new one. This is what I got as a ful PC and was wondering what people thought about this. Its not built for extreme performance, but as something that will last me a few years. Not big into gaming, with fast refresh and frame rate. Photo editing is my biggest project. I also calculated this to be about $1200. Yeah, I know its quite a bit. Cooler Master CM Stacker 83 Antec Phantom 500W Intel Pentium D 920 Zalman CNPS9500 LED ASUS P5WD2 Preium ASUS WiFi-TV PCI Card Corsair TWIN2X1024-5400C4 Plextor PX-716A Plextor PX-230A/SW-BL Seagate SATA 300 MB/s 160GB ST3160812AS Seagate ATA133 200GB (x2) I was also given the suggestion to upgrade this to a ASUS P5WD2-E Premium, but I'm not into gaming so that would be a bit of waste for me. So if you have any suggestions...
@homeg269 For $1200, you shouldn't have a system that can't do anything. What about a monitor? Are you keeping your original?? Plextor optical drives are good any everything, but they are WAY overpriced. I've had everything from LITE-ON, ACER, Sony, never had a optical drive that crapped out before the technology got better and needed replacing. For your burner, check this out. Great Drive. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827101008 And, I've been through a Celeron, a P4, a sempron, and my newest Athlon X2. I would rather have a sempron than a P4 anyday. I will never use a pentium again. If AMD goes bankrupt or something, I'll still find a different co to buy processors from. EDIT: Oh and why the 2 IDE drives??? Get a mobo with 4 SATA ports. SATA all the way. IDE is crap. I wish I could have hooked up my burner and dvd rom SATA just because. I just don't like the interface anymore. 24hours and I got spoiled. Going to the bar. Be back later.
I will be using my old moniter. I will not be buying the IDE drives or the Plextors, since those are the parts that I have. This is why I am getting the Seagate 160GB.
Ah. Well then I don't see how that system could possibly be $1200. That cpu only cost's like $244 at newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116237 But personally I'd go this route if you are interested in dual core. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103562 But, I have my stand against Intel.
