it could be a problem with the hard drive also, try running scandisk to find out if you have bad clusters or bad sectors.

    Dela,

I couldn't find an answer to this in any other FAQ's. Hopefully you can help.

Question for you: I read your FAQ on AVI to VCD, and I have run into a snare.

I am trying to take our home movies from a Cannon DV recorder and put them on VCD, but it looks terrible.

I've tried to Capture the movies using Premier 6, and ULead Video Studio 5 (and they both capture into some MPEG format, and then tried to import those into Sonic MyDVD 4 to make a VCD. These movies look really blocky, especially when the camera moves. Then I tried to make them into a SVCD format instead by re-encoding them in TMPGenc 2.59 and then re-burning them in Nero for SVCD, and it looks better, but still pretty bad.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance!

    -C

When they are actually recorded onto the computer, do they look bad when you play em back or when you encode them for svcd??

    Dela,

They look just fine on the computer when played through Media Player, but when I burn them onto CD-r (VCD, or SVCD) that's when it turns out really blocky

Did you use TMPGEnc to encode it first?

Re: File "C:\Program Files\Kazaa\My Shared Files\8Mile1of2.avi" can not open, or unsupported

I read this somewhere and it worked for me:

    In TMPGEnc:
    -Go to Options/Environmental Settings/VFAPI plug-in
-Raise the "Direct Show Multimedia File Reader' to 1 (you can do this by right-clicking on the line and click 'Higher Priority')

TMPGEnc opened the avi file just fine after the options change

Or you could have uncompressed the audio stream on the movie file to make sure you run into no errors!

Got a question that I'm assuming Dela will answer: I did everything in your instructions for avi to cd-r and my playstation 2 could not read the disc. Did I screw up or is the PS2 just incapable?

Are you opening TMPGEnc from a shortcut, if you are open the .exe from the folder instead!

I got one more question for you dela is that movies don't have a great picture. Is there any program you know of that will enhance you know make the quality of the picture better. That would be awsome thanks again.

No, nothing that would do much good, however, you should use good p2p apps or mIRC and you will get the best divx, the dvd quality divx and svcd. I recommend you read my little eMule tutorial http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/20686
