hello, i recently baught a dbox2 & wondering if you LOVELY people could help me PWWWWWWEEEEASES :D
...my cable line has been redudant for some years now, & having connected my dbox to the cable line & scanned, i got nothing! :(
is there any way to find out if your cable line is dead or active using the dbox?
there was a feature i cant remember pressing the red button...& i think it's the last option on the list that lets you check the bit rate of the cable line???
cheers any feedback would be very much appreciated

plug the line straight into the tv and tune in channels if you get sky 1 etc then its active and should work with dbox.if it doesnt come up then youve been cut off

thank you for your reply but i dont think you understood my question. I got the wire disconnected from the cable company years back. so i doubt that my tv would pick up any cable channels...UNLESS you meant i can get the standard freeview channels down any cable line???

If you put a coax tv plug on it and put it into the TV aerial socket & can tune in any channels on the TV then it's live.

trace your wire out to a box outside your house it will be under a manhole type cover saying cablelink or ntl etc.your wire will have your house number on a sticker on it.it will be disconnected from the terminal reconnect it and bobs your uncle

yip m8 i agree lol cant blaim them though it is too good an offer to miss. All cable channels for free ! lol anyway its not like telewest have some crazy prices either , their broadband service and phones are pretty competitive. I used to have tv with them years ago but cut it off however still stick with the broadband
