you need to make a bios flash cd

if you turn on the xbox with the chip enabled
you should see a black screen with a pinguin
with the message: please insert bios update cd
    if you see this

all you need is a bios cd
    what you need? :

    the bios of your choice
    x-cuter X2_4977.bin is good

CD-RW media or DVD-R your xbox can read with no problem

a dummy file ( whatever files zipped) I recommend between 300mb-500mb if you have a thompson)

this is a pretty good guide you can follow

    CD-R's ?
unless your xbox has a DVD drive that can read everything
dont know if is the samsung or the philips

    better start with CD-RW media
that way you will not waste cd's
cause they are rewritables ;) ;)

first you have to install the bios
after that you can leave it like that or install the new dashboard

new dashboard is not required for back ups
but if you want your dashboard to look cool
    then go for it

    ok for dashboard

<<---------------- Creation of the Boot Disk -------------------->>

    ==========================================

    1. extract the files from the version of EvoX you downloaded. You should put your dummy file in the extracted folder.

    2. in the new EvoX folder, find the file with the extention (i.e. .bmp, .txt) of .xbe
it is usually names something along the lines of evoxdash.xbe

This is the dashboard file. *YOU MUST* rename this to default.xbe for boot disk purposes

    3. make sure you have *at least* these files in your evoX folder

    default.xbe (after renaming)
    evox.ini
    dummy file (nero.zip)

    4. open Craxtion. click add. Browse so that it is searching for the folder with the
evoX files in it. Click Next. It will now ask you to point it in the direction of where to save your new .iso you can also rename it in the bottom left Click Next. If it asks you if you want to patch the default.xbe, choose no. Then Finish it up and you got yourself a new xbox .iso

    5. open nero. close out of the wizard if it pops up. go to File>Burn Image. Burn the .iso file you made with Craxtion onto your blank cd-rw. Burn as slow as possible to insure a safe burn.

    6. after burning the disk, put that disk into your xbox and turn it off then back on.

    ==========================================

This Boot Disk has created a temporary FTP server so that you can transfer files to and from your xbox and computer. In order to FTP to your xbox, you HAVE to be at your dashboard, either by boot disk or if it's already installed then just go to it by default.

    ===============Warning!!!!===================

!!AS SOON!! as you get the boot disk to work and you connect to your xbox for the first time, BACK UP your C: and E: drives. You can do this by using FlashFXP.

    wait

    if something goes wrong
you gonna lost probably your xbox

the programmer all it does is reflash the bios
not make your xbox files come alive again

better do a little of hard work
get a NIC for like $10 - $15 if your pc has'nt one

and save your xbox hdd files to your pc before installing evox

emm if you were talking about a bad flash
    then yes
a programmer is all what you need ;)

but for evox a back up of the xbox hdd is needed

downloading the original xbox C and E from IRC
    probably if you are lucky
but you'll not know if they are messed up

better back up the ones you have and you know are the ones your xbox had and worked perfectly

to connect xbox and pc on network
    first
you have to have a evolutionX boot cd
or have it already installed on your xbox

if its the first time you are connecting
make sure your evox is set up to static ip (if your are on a HUB or you are connecting thru a crossover cable with your pc, when in this ciscunstances your pc has to be set up to the same ip your xbox has)))

if you are on router (leave the evox settings ip to:dhpc or something like that)
    and same with the pc
( router will do all the hard work)<- easiest set up

this is a guide from RustyDog
for setting up a network PC-->XBOX
    http://get-modded.com/tutorials/BasicNetworking.pdf

    very useful
