How to format a DVD Disk?

    Is there any 'freeware' software for formatting a DVD disk? I use DVD-X-Copy and Instant Copy to write the disk, but occassionally an error occurs. I want to reuse the disk (+-RW), possibly on my Sony DVD Recorder, and I need to format it otherwise it can't be read.

    Do you run Windows XP? It can erase RW's.
    Under Windows Explorer...I think under 'File'.
