    ??I have a network Question??

My squeezebox is in a shack 400-600 ft away- haven't measured yet. I'll need ethernet cable right? I pointed my dir655 n-router at the shack which has a clear line of sight at shack but sqeezebox could see network but couldn't log into server because too far. Squeezebox only has G wifi. Using a wireless repeater is not an option because my U-Verse router and squeezebox both I am told are incompatible with repeaters. So how about wiring it? I'll use cat6 cause it's going in my yard right? I am told 300 ft is maximum wired range. Can I double this range to 600 ft. by using two 300 ft cat6 lines joined in the middle with a $20 ethernet switch? Does switch require electricity? If so, is there one that runs on battery? I won't be able to easily extend an extension cord to switch.

Even though the dir655 I borrowed wifi wouldn't reach my shack- Is there a better router/antenna option I can buy that will go farther? Where can I buy? Bestbuy said I'd have to buy online.

Alternativly can I use two of these ActionTec MI424-WR as a bridge?

from ebay $30 each and place one beside my uverse router hooked up with ethernet, and put the other in my shack 600 ft away connected by coax cable?

    Use this basic guide: http://www.engadget.com/2005/11/15/how-to-build-a-wifi-biquad-dish-antenna/

...But don't build a biquad for it; build a double biquad, or just buy a doublebiquad like the one below.

    http://www.inmanselectronics.com/double_biquad_wifi_antenna-p-1.html

Odds are you can get connection with just one dish and a well placed conventional antenna on the other end...though you would probably get better results from a pair of aimed dishes. Note that while parabolic dishes are better for most things, a small round dish is better for something like this.

So I set the dish/antenna beside my squeezebox? It doesn't have to connect to my squeezebox? And I should use a standard Direct tv dish? Fortunantly I happen to have one. I've measured and its only 400 ft away from my uverse g router.
