   i understand that if the srt/sub file is the same file name as the avi file the subtitles can be read but I wish to insert the subtitles so that it cannot be changed or deleted by modifying the srt/sub file.

   It depends on what do you want to do with your video files...do you want to play them on your computer, or a standalone player?
