Had an antique Hp laptop that was working (just barely) w/a few work arounds. Received a newer Hp laptop in good working condition cept it had a bad HDD. Installed HDD from piece-o-crap laptop into the newer laptop and, no joy! Newer laptop ran on win 8 while HDD had win 7 os. After laboriously (at least it was for me) uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and software most everything is working well. I want to replace the 750 Gb HDD with a larger capacity drive but am not sure of the best way to xnsfer data from smaller drive to the newer, larger drive. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanx fer takin the time to read this Take care, Roger
You could put the new drive in an external USB case and clone the existing system drive to it using AOMEI Backupper. https://www.backup-utility.com/download.html
After the clone go grab any free partitioning software to re allocate any free space back into C or create an extended partition to store data.Using a data partition allows keeping C at around 100gb & is ideal to create backup images, without the need to backup other stuff, which can be copy pasted to another hdd. mintool easeus
