hello, i just purchased a movie at a english web site containing region 2.how can i turn this movie region free or al least region 1 for usa? i ripped the movie using decrypter but even after is ripped all copies seem to come out with the same region 2 and can't be played in a domestic us dvd player. any clues??? thanks a million!!!!
i have anydvd and i get no results at all.all copies still coming out with a region 2 protection.can't play in the computer or in any of my home players.
DVD Shrink has a setting for region free just before encoding. How do know the burned movie is still region 2?
i have a coby 224 , panasonic ,i can watch the movie in my pc only. why? why can i see it in a regular dvd player? i say still with region 2 because of that feed back it's giving me, any more clues?
flanker2 , You need to convert "PAL to NTSC". You can google for that and get alot of programs but if you have Premiere or Scenarist they will do it. Also TMPGenc will also do it if I am not mistaken.
Had the same problem with PAL after I bought a new Sony. I was told at the Best Buy that the major manufacturers can't sell PAL players in the states HOWEVER you can find a cheap ($30) CyberHome player that will play both. My soluition was to have 2 separate players...my Sony for NTSC and my good old cheapo for PAL.
you can buy a region free dvd player such as smc dvd layer you can get them of f ebay bought 1 3 yrs ago plays any type of blank media plays my wife is chinese her mom sends her movies from china there region 2 pal and it plays on ntsc just my 2 cents
ya can take the smc dvd player to other countries and play the region 2 or whatever region they are on this dvd player its called smc ya can buy them off of ebay i bought mine off of ubid pal is for other countries it has ntsc and pal ya can change it to pal bu ya have o e in another country to play on thee tvsim in the states works just fine on any region movies

Hello. Having some of the same problems as being discussed here. I have a DVD from Greece that I cannot play in any of my DVD players. It plays fine on the PC (Windows Media Player). I ripped/coverted it to region free using Shrink and it still won't play. I'm wondering if my problem is this PAL issue you guys are talking about. How can I tell if PAL is the problem. Will DVDInfoPro tell me if it's in PAL format? Thanks!
Hi Lumpy755, You can ID NTSC/PAL with Nero's info tool: If you don't have it you should be able to download it here. http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/Nero Toolkit.zip It's a zippped file so just extract it. Let me know if it works for you. Cheers, Frank
Thanks Frank. I used your Nero InfoTool suggestion and sure enough, it's PAL format. I'll try and find a suitable program to convert it.
I think I would try to find the ntsc version if possible. http://www.jakeludington.com/ask_jake/20041219_how_do_i_convert_a_pal_dvd_to_ntsc.html
