how to play a .srt file that is not a video file?

    hi everyone..i downloaded this .srt file that wont play on any of the programs i have..when i try to play the .srt file, the programs says that the .srt file is not a video file, so i can't play it..can anyone please help me out?

    .srt files are subtitles for your movie.Try adding them with avi2dvd

    thanks...i understand now...so how do i burn the .avi file with the .srt file, so that i can watch the movie with the subtitles as a VCD?

    incorporate them when using avi2dvd

    ok so i incoporate the files..but how do i burn it still? cuz after encoding, theres the audio file and theres the video file..do i have to do something there? or just burn both files together?

    can anyone guide me through to how to use nero to burn my .avi and .srt file together so they would play on my dvd player.

    and can you also help me on how to play the .avi file with the .srt file on the dvd player. i have a Philips DVP642 DVD Video Player.
