the cortana running in task manager is also windows search,so if you use windows search its best to leave it run.
I beg to disagree, my friend. I "bit the bullet" and upgraded from win 7 sp1 x64 ultimate to win 10 pro x64. I have an extremely customized 7 and did not want any of my data, libraries or desktop material to follow.. Had to jump thru some hoops but all went well and got win 10 Pro x64 Threshold 1 activated. After activation, I deleted it and downloaded Win 10 Pro from M$ and made a clean install. After the clean install, I have hacked my update downloads to Not install and Not use bandwidth so that I can pick and choose what I install. All of the telemetry has been disabled plus Cortana is disabled, not running in task manager and I can still search windows. Maybe it's because you don't have win 10 PRO that it don't work for you??? I have an image backup of win 10 and win 7 and can switch at will.. Actually it takes a little time and maybe after TH2 or maybe even Redstone hits in 2016, I may consider a dual boot....... So far, just playing with it!
yep, have win10 pro.maybe its because i renamed the file and deleted it that i had the trouble with search.i have search back and low and behold i dont have that cortana.exe file in task manager.dunno what to say there.lol
Now you can activate Windows 10 with your Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 product key http://betanews.com/2015/10/13/now-...th-your-windows-7-or-windows-8-1-product-key/
Well, KMA... When I installed, I had to do the free to get it activated then do a clean install with the iso without entering the key.. Oh well, 6 in one hand and a half dozen in the other....... whatever, roll on!
