I have an .mpg which has a 48khz audio stream. How can I convert the audio to standard 44.1 kHz?

I no longer have the original frames to re-encode from them.

TMPGEnc will extract the .mp2 stream but I'm not sure after that what tool to use to re-encode the audio at the proper stream rate. I've tried to open the mpg in VirtualDub but it wouldn't open. Also Nero won't allow me to re-encode the mp2. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Actually the problem was merely a strange message from Nero but the SVCD will play fine nevertheless. So I guess this is a moot point now.
