Not to belittle you, but have you tried refreshing or restarting your pc? Sometimes, that is what's needed to take effect.

Yeah, that's my OS and it works fine. Mine is renamed...well, better not say! :)

[Edit] Here is another way to do it: http://www.annoyances.org/exec/software/rb_ren. It contains the registry keys needed to rename, delete or restore the recycle bin.

I now understand why it wouldn't work on the two PC's I tried it on. One has XP Home and the other XP Pro. But mine has Media Edition 2005...?

Members having problems with getting the reg key to co-operate with you, let me know and I can create a key for you from there you should just have to double click and install.

I'll need to find the original reg key for that O/S. That's one that I don't own, apologies. Maybe I'll talk to Jamaal and see if he can export his, I believe he has MCE, and then we can get it to you or I can make necessary changes to it and get you the key. It should be possible.

Does this change it for everyone on the computer or just the user account that changed it?

Since it's a root change, I'm pretty sure that it will change for all users...but don't quote me on that.

How come when I go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID/{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}It doesn't say "Recycle Bin" anywheres for me to change it?

*EDIT: Nevermind I fixed my own problem!
