Hi, I recent got a Gateway laptop from a friend with windows vista. I have no use of the files already on it so I would like to restore it to its factory settings. How would I go about doing that ? I tried messing around with the System Restore but it would only let me restore to a perviouse date. I want the whole thing restored to its factory settings.

    Thanks in advance!

I don't have the windows vista disc. I thought you could just do a system restore to its factory settings

In order to do a system restore, you would need the recovery discs provided with the Gateway laptop. Some newer computers don't come with restore discs, but instead have software installed on the computer that allows you to create your own restore discs.
